big hostel, lots of travelers from Europe. bar downstairs makes a bit of noise at night, but overall it's okay. breakfast is crazy overpriced, but room was a good price. a lot of jewellery shops in the neighbourhood, if that's what you came to Thailand for?
Only stayed there one night instead of two. 10 bed dorms are terrible, smelly, the beds are uncomfortable. Cleaning ladies are rude. Shovers are...terrible, you can not even lock most of them.
the bathroom is too small but it's great. you have to bring your own padlock. The location is reachable with taxi. beware of tuktuk, I rode taxi from Hua Lampong Railway Station, it's only costed me abt 40-60THB, While 'kind' tuktuj drivers offered me 150THB.
The fact that the hostel is the primary stop for most of the danish youths coming to Bangkok should have been very transparent. The hostel is also employed by young danish people who most nights invite to a party in the commonroom. This might not have bothered other guests if the commonroom wasnt located directly underneath the doorms. Doorm living is unbearable as people here dont respect sleephours and are drunk most nights. Lockers for valuables were also unavailable for the whole stay.
Staff isn't very friendly/ helpful. The place was clean. Beds are alright but very basic. You can stay a little down the road at another hostel for cheaper and have much better accommodations. The common area also leaves a lot to be desired. Showers are small with heaters working most of the time. No locks given for lockers so bring your own. Nice quiet location. Felt safe.
Comfortable and clean but a little loud at night and a 20 minute walk from public transportation.
We had an amazing stay! Everyone we met was so friendly. There was an awesome atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly. The rooms were air conditioned all night so a good nights sleep was easy. We would definitely stay here again!
Ok location. Would have had an ok value for money (it's very cheap) if not for the fact that the cleaning ladies, for no apparent reason, had to make an extreme amount of noise early every morning when they were cleaning outside of the dorm room. It sounded like they were beating something against the floor, maybe to wake up the sleeping guests, not sure.
The best hostel I've ever stayed. The restaurant provides a very tasty thai food and also an amazing american style breakfast for a very reasonable price. The staff are more than friendly and the bar is a excellent space for having a local beer and make new friendships. Definitely would come back again.
New road is recommended for all traveller who want to visit bangkok essentials because near with oriental pear and very easy to go to the grand palace, wat pho, and wat arun. If u want to go to asiatique also very easy from there.. but a quite far from saphan taksin pier. From saphan taksin pier to hostel it takes about 20 minutes walking and becareful if u go at night.. theres a scam there.. becarefull with people or couple who looks like professional.. they will talk to you and try to scam u..
The New Road guesthouse is a great place to start your trip in Bangkok especially if you are a backpacker. The staff is Thai and Danish and they a ready to help you at any time. The rooms are ok, clean and nice with fan. Nothing special but really great for the price. I stayed there twice and I want to come back! The Breakfast is nice:)

Generally a nice place to stay, but didn't have much in the way of character. Still, great value for money with easy access to transport links around Bangkok.
Its really awesome to have an information desk to help you plan your trip. For someone like me who haven't planned nothing, it helped me a lot to understand Thailand and the surrounding to get started. The tour and everything they offer seem a bit overpriced I think but all the support they give you is priceless.

Pretty quiet when I was here. Only talked with 3 other travels but was only there for a night seemed good, got a few bug bites Sitting in the dorm bar area. Sign to see the hostel was in the alley walked right by it. It says between 34-36 but it's first ally after 34.
Blanket and towel were wet when I arrived in the evening. Very loud, under the dorm is a party room with loud music till 4am. No nice atmosphere. Staff is very loud in the morning. In the shower is no space for towel, clothes etc. Most of the time shower was cold. Nothing to do around this area, but you reach the skytrain within 10-15 minutes
Everything was great in the dorm. My only complain is about the shower. There was no place to let any thing (champoo, towel, etc) inside the shower. It was very small and there wasn't hot water.
Fine place to stay, no problems at all.

Nice place to stay. Staff really friendly. 10-15 min walking from the skytrain/taxi boat station, but that's ok. A little bit hard to find anyway. Located on a small street, not along the Charoen Krung street (look for the sign just after soi 36).
It was a decent place to stay, definitely got what Iaid for. The beds were very poor however and was afraid they might fall apart. The staff were nice and the front desk helpful. It constantly smelled of mold and it was difficult to find somewhere quiet
