My sister and I stayed there for just one night, and we got a clean room for cheap by going with the New York Budget Inn. The reception staff was so friendly and pointed out important sightseeing points and gave us restaurant tips unprovoked! They were so friendly!

Plus. Good location, good value for money, great if you don't want to meet people but want a bed to sleep and don't need comfort Minus. Tiny rooms, no bar, no real meeting place, no real atmosphere, small beds, no power points in room I was in, seems like hotel rooms converted into dorms... Not really proper dorms

You pay an extra 50 or 60 dollars for towels, locker, etc. The money you pay for towels and locker is supposed to returned to you, but I never got it back, plus I never got any towels while I was there. Extremely noisy. There are other good deals in NYC for the same money.

Friendly staff, clean and practical rooms, excellent location. But the bed was small and not so comfy and the place is missing an elevator so prepare to carry your (heavy) luggage yourself in a narrow staircase.

the hostel experience though different than hotels is very rewarding. I thought the 'systems ' at this place were well conceived and well managed . I will definetly return . I have stayed at hostels in various cities .and find them to keep me in touch with activities and travel opportunities BUDGET INN was good that way as well. New york is a a hard place to find affordable bedding thanks

I loved it! Staff was super helpful, bathrooms were clean, rooms were large with an air conditioner. The only thing that sucked was walking to the 5th floor, but for $50, who cares?!?

The Hostel was very nice and really in the heart of everything. The staff was always very helpful and nice and the always had some tipps and information that where very good to know. The room was not that big (had a double bed private with shared bathroom) but it is perfect if you need this room only for a good night sleep. The bed was perfect. The only negative: they turned on the heating (eventhough it was always pretty warm in there) because guests complained it was to cold?!

A fantastic place to stay at in New York. Close to everything (I walked almost everywhere) and fantastic value for money. Highly recommended!

We are upset about the quoted price points in our bill estimate. The night before we arrived we got another email with an inflated sum, to which we were told we didn't read the email carefully enough as there's additional room fees per person, towel fees and taxes which weren't very forthcoming. Needless to say we went $200 over budget on these fees alone and the management wouldn't accommodate us. Loud sirens kept me up all night and overall we could've gotten more value elsewhere.

Owner Comment (Show)
Thank you for your feedback. However you are terribly mistaken and apparently unfamiliar with New York. We do not charge additional fees. We collect TAXES that are mandated by law. These taxes are CLEARLY stated on WRI and on our website. Every Hostel/Hotel in New York must collect these taxes. In addition, we do NOT charge a towel fee. Our towels are free of charge (unlike many properties that do charge a fee). We do charge a security deposit for towels which is fully refunded at checkout.

Stayed in NY budget inn for couple of nights - I would rate the staff as top notch and very friendly. They provided very helpful tips to roam around NY. Hotel is centrally located in Manhattan and close to subway - Time Square is also at a walking distance- My suggestions: Add a simple breakfast that would be really be appreciated & please dont charge for luggage storage if its only for few hours. Rest is all great ! keep it up and special regards to Liv Tyler and Bruce Willis ;) i'll be back !
