The staff was so helpful here! Always eager to give tips on where in town to check out, taking backpackers out for events, offering free surfboard rentals and doing it all with a smile! The facilities are a bit old, but the lounge and kitchen are very spacious and there's a ping pong table and pool table for you to use. Would visit again

Great hostel, fairly quiet but it has a friendly vibe. The rooms were super clean, free surfboard and body board hire was awesome. Would stay again.

Everything about the hostel was great! The rooms were a really good size and I liked the fact the showers had extra room so you can get changed! Staff were extremely friendly and helped out when needed. The security was great for getting into the hostel after 9pm and had for the luggage room. Kitchen was a really good size and liked that it was 24 hour. The common area was great and loved the facts they have activities everyday and wrote them on a white board so you knew.

Newcastle has a really good Wednesday night out at the Argyle. This hostel isn't lively so wouldn't recommend if you were thinking of a night out. Chilled beach days and early nights, then this place would be good.

Feels a bit like a hospital. Very quiet but that may be suitable for some!

Great place to stay for a couple of nights, you can pretty much see the ocean from the hostel. Location is great, the town of Newcastle is somewhat quiet but it does have a great vib to it. Hostel is very clean and specious, staff are friendly and helpful. If you are looking to party hard this is not the place. But it's a good relaxing stop

really cool old school house, which is probably why you can hear people talking and children running around upstairs though walls in the morning (pack ear plugs). staff was really friendly. I'd def stay again.

I recommend Newcastle YHA.It provided everything I needed while walking the many walkways and board walks, to explore this stunning coastal area. The huge lounge had numerous comfy chairs and everyone was friendly, talking about their travels.

Absolutely loved this hostel. It felt like home. Super welcoming and helpful staff. Amazing location right next to the beach. And free surfboard rentals. How cold you pass that up!?? Plus the beds were comfortable as well. :)

Showers terrible, would splash water everywhere and they weren't very clean. Rooms were very basic. The common area was very nice though and staff were friendly and helpful. Nice location too, easy to get to the beach and main road.
