Hi Conrad The hostel is very much alive and well!! The hostel has moved to location in the UPTOWN Saint John area. The problem lies in the fact I cannot change the address online! I have finally managed to change the descriptions and directions but they are not updated yet as it has to be approved by Hostelworld. We still have the building at Newman Street and I have placed my cell phone number on a notice sign plainly visible within the glass portion of the front door. The building is not abandoned but rather is under renovations. When completed in May 2013, there will be staff available there for overflow situations as needed for groups, families, etc.

The owner is extremely good lady. The real gentle woman. she picked me up from her old hostel although there was confusion about her hostel ad the address given of was of old hostel which was locked but she picked me up after callingher . gave me 2 hour city tour in her car as well as dropped me at the bus station at 6:30 in early morning. All this free of charge. She did not take any money and gave good breakfast. I will give 5 star and would recommend to stay there.

When my friends and I booked to stay one night at this property, but when we arrived, no-one was in. We phoned the owner on both her mobile number and her home number, which was stuck to the door, with no response. We decided to find somewhere else to stay (by this time at 10pm) and I sent her a text message asking her to contact me ASAP. She made no effort to get back in touch, though I eventually managed to get through to her the next day. She has since refunded our deposit.
