Overall not worth the money. Would highly advise against booking anything with this hostel, prices are quoted as double if not more than what can be found in town. Dishonest staff about this issue. Had an unpleasant experience that overshadowed anything positive about nicks homestay. Don't waste your time or money.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your comment through hostelworld.com and your stay with us. I think your comment not reasonable one if you got unpleasant stay with us, based on your stay with us. You book for 1 night, but the fact you stay for 4 nights.

A great place to stay for those who want to stay at a rather isolated place. Just off the beach but the level of pollution and the fishing village character would probably keep most of the visitors off the water. Reasonable food within walking distance.

Overall it is excellent, but the door cannot be closed and the staffs need to improve a bit of their communication skill. The style is unique and quite peaceful especially wake up in the early morning.

We had a lovely time at Nick's. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was nice. However, we needed a pool! The 'close by' pools were not close by at all. We would have extended our stay if not for this reason. Also if you don't like getting woken up by local children at 5am this is not the place for you - but I thought it was lovely :)

The bathroom smelled of an old sewage system... Communication skill of staff was very poor and the service was lackluster...

Didn't like Nick's home stay as it's overpriced compared considering it poor facilities. Room was dirty and full of dust & I got sick there. Can hear what others talking in next room and outside. Staff was okay, but hard to find them as they are not at reception much. Place was centrally located. However, there are better clean places with air-con in Ubud for lesser price than Nicks homestay.

Nick's homestay is wicked! You have to stay here! Be prepared for early rises from the family and the choir of dogs, birds and frogs at 2am but overall this was a fantastic place for us. The room could have been cleaner when we first arrived but our beds were made everyday and when they knew we had done an early morning trek they cleaned and made our room up ready for us to come back. Kenya (a member of staff) was fantastic and helped book all our activities and transport. Thank you!

Great place to stay. Check in were helpful with arranging tours. Complimentary tea in the morning was good. Missed out on breakfast couldn't work out the system on how it worked, more printed information contained in the visitor book in room would ease this. Bathroom was stunning, bed was soft and comfortable. Would recommend and happy to stay here again.

staff and accomodation was great. breakfast was good. good value for money. only complaint is that they have many caged birds in the compound and they begin loudly squwaking at 4am on most days which kept me up all the time.

The only reason I rated the fun poor was because there was no common area of this hostel, so meeting people was a little difficult. Therefore it was really just a place to stay. The staff is great, they bring you complimentary breakfast in the morning, are always willing to help and very friendly. Cleanliness was great, best so far in Bali. In some of the rooms they dont have a wardrobe that locks, so it was hard to feel 100% secure. Also pool is about 20 minute walk away, drawback for sure.

Nick's homestay is a great place to stay in Ubud. The rooms are very authentic what makes you really feel like being in the heart of Bali. Moreover it's clean and the breakfast is nice. Staff was really helpful organizing tours and a good taxi-driver for us. We definitely recommend this place!

We're staying in the ground floor and the first floor of the double story building. There is a store room behind the building which people can easily access to it and peek on us through the windows of the bathrooms. We feel very unsecured during shower.
