My favourite place in Sofia to crash! Most friendly staff in the city, good beds, fresh breakfast and great common area. Just get rid of you-know-who ;)

Everything was great except toilets and showers could be cleaner and receptionist with dark hair should be more polite.

One of the worst hostels we've been to- the owner ordered us a taxi to pick us up at the bus stop and we had to pay him 10 EUR for it. on our way back we asked the taxi driver what was the price and he told us it was 4 euro. the hostel is full of old people, a crazy guy talking to the computer who is sleeping in the common room and we really didn't feel very nice there. The bathrooms were really bad and the breakfast was very poor.we wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Dora , you were 4 people with A LOT of baggage so we organized a big safe combi to pick you up. In front of a train station stay very expensive taxes so you would pay much more. There was only one old singer from Finland. He sometimes sing for himself. For breakfast we have prepared home made delicious fried dough filled with cheese. But you have just missed the main breakfast so you had only free tea, coffee and milk( the breakfast from 8.30am to 10 am). Additional we organized a trip to Rila Monastery with a private mini bus for you only. After that we have kept your big luggage free until the night train in 10 pm. The bathrooms are fully renovated and clean. For all accommodation you have paid 5 Euros only. You never complained from anything and thank us a lot in the end of a staying. Sorry but you are not honest and fair in your opinion. So my friends travelers, come and check personally - and see what your money will bring to you. We wish Happy New Year to everybody !!!!! 2 0 1 2 !!!!! The long a

The staff were extremely rude, one of them was extremely drunk and abused myself and my friends and stole some of our possessions. They also ripped us off for anything they could and massively marked up the price of one of the taxi's from the hostel (as we asked the driver how much it actually costs) Rooms were in average condition and the location felt really unsafe.

Stayed here for a week and it's very good hostel. Had massive problems with accessing money in Bulgaria and the owner was kind enough to advanced me the money until I sorted it out. This was a life-saver. There nothing more scary than being in a foreign country no money or no food. Heck there is even an Ukrainian guy who has been living in the hostel for more than 6 months!!! Its cheap, close to everything and it feels like living in a home, what more could you ask for? K

I had a very good time at the nightingale Hostel. The owner is a great man, funny and willing to give informations about Sofia. He is there to help you and wants you to have a good stay in is homely hostel. Sacha, the maintenance lady, is a super cook. She can put together for you some amazing food every night. Over all, a good place to stay and relax while visiting Sofia.

That's very good vaalue place to stay in Sofia. Very well located, nice and english speaking staff, good breakfast and very open owner. Be aware that the cheapest room is just simple dorm, quie clean but don't expect ome 'wow'... They have even kinda hostel's pupet - guy who's talking to himself and computer...

The breakfast is good, tasty and a satisfying portion, Juan is excellent it's good to have someone who understands western culture to ease visitors into the eastern Europe culture. Well priced, generally quite clean, kitchen facilities are definitely adequate. Having computers to use is great. Excellent that owner kicked crazy guy out after everyone in the hostel had had enough. Good info for tourist during stay, overall would recommend.

The hostel has a very good location, but is very small. Its also like youre living in the house of the family as their children use the common area as their living room. The water plumming makes the rooms stink. The Hostel has a very small kitchen and things are not so clean. There is a dishwasher so that is good. Breakfast is allright, defenitly ask michael to make you waffles, they are pretty good! The green tour they offer you with Slav is really worthwile and the hike up the mountain is great!

Good location, layout, nice lounge. However, we were very disappointed to arrive and see filthy mattresses and sheets that didn't fit the bed, and the 'air con' was a plug in fan and an open window. The girl on the desk was very unhelpful,we understood breakfast was included, but were charged extra for v poor breakfast. Girls' toilets were usable, but not cleaned during our stay. We're not fussy travellers, but this hostel needs a thorough clean. Some staff v friendly, others made us feel v unwelcome.
