We really enjoyed the personal experience with the staff and their friends. The owners considered their guests more than just customers and we really enjoyed the conversations with them. They even offered us a lift to a shopping center and we felt really taken care of.

I can highly recommend this place. Very clean, very nice owner.

Really nice place. The owners, Sato and his wife, were so friendly and made me feel so welcome, inviting me to dinner, and chatting to all the guests. Would recommend to everyone.

We spent one night at Nikko Guesthouse Sumica, and it was a memorable time for us. We were welcome by Sato-san and his wife. Once that we stepped in to the hostel, they gave us recommendation of the attraction places, how to hop on the bus, where to dine and most of all "the onsen" place (where he actually drove us all the way there and also picked us up, almost 10pm). The location is very convenient, nearby the train/bus station. The place is clean, Highly recommend!!!!!!

I had a wonderful stay here, the hosts are lovely: they provided excellent advice for places to visit in the area and even took another guest and me to dinner at a fantastic restaurant. The location is perfect, so close to the station, but still an easy walk to Nikko's attractions. My single room was very clean and comfortable. I really hope to return one day, the guesthouse is great and Nikko is beautiful. Thanks guys!

The owning couple is super friendly and helps you in any way needed. They´ve got a lot of information about nikko and surrounding area. Also they offered us a ride to various locations within nikko.

Wonderful stay! We were made to feel so welcome and its was so kind of the owner to drive us to the onsen during our stay. Small, but very comfortable and perhaps one of the best hostels i have ever stayed in!

One of my favourite hostels I have ever stayed. The owners are very helpful and superfriendly. They have organized a dinner party for us and the other guests which was the best thing at our weekend. And of course Nikko with its temples, shrines and surrounding is beautiful.

Excellent hospitality, the owners know what you need without you having to ask, and respond quickly to email queries. They even gave me a ride to the Takino Shrine when I missed my bus! On my second night, I was invited to a delicious, entertaining food tasting session and ping-pong with the hosts and other guests. You can connect to the wifi from bed. Located right next to the train station and close to the supermarket. I would highly recommend it despite the rather cramp living space.

A great little hostel, the couple who runs it are super informed and helpful, they even drove me to a local onsen and arranged some activities I did not know about from my own research. It is a very small place, and they prefer if you are out and about, so don't expect it to be the kind of place where you can relax and nap during the day. For a base to see Nikko it was really perfect.

Made me feel very welcome, after hiking around the temple and shrine area the whole hostel had a sushi making party paid equally by a visit to the supermarket!

It's a winning formula, don't change a thing.

Mr & Mrs Sato the Owners are very helpful and friendly,knowledgeble about world affairs & countries and they will try their best to make you feel at home. The location is just mins away 15 degree opposite the Nikko Train Station & good connection for travellers.

nice hostel to stay at and meet with other travelers. it comes with great location, nice ambience, and even amazing hosts who love to travel, meet, and serve as well. will definitely stay there again!

One of my favorite places I've ever stayed. A cute as can be traditional Japense house. The owners can not do enough for you! Nikko is a must do with the temples, mountains and hot springs and I would skip all the fancy hotels and stay here, Nikko Guesthouse. It is everything I love about Japan; efficient, friendly, helpful, and beautifully kept.

Great location, right between both stations. The owners are lovely people that did everything they could to make my stay enjoyable. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favour and book here!
