The hostel is just great, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Not the most convenient location, but is better than staying in Nikko itself where there just isn't that much to do. The owner Ken is one of the nicest, most helpful people that we have met on our travels. A really nice place just a short-ish walk up the hill... maybe 20 mins by foot from the station. Great place to stay, they even had heating pads for the blankets. The main drag of Nikko is actually quite ugly, so although some on here have complained about the location of this hostel, I'd actually rate it as a bonus because the woodsy aesthetic of the place is much nicer than you'd find in other parts of town. It also has a fairly direct hiking path to take you to the temple sites and makes for a nice morning walk.
No towels, though, so bring your own or drip dry. :-)Great place to stay, they even had heating pads for the blankets.
