Can`t speak highly enough of the owner, who sat me down for a good 10 minutes talking me through everything worth seeing in Nikko. Prepare fora bit of a slog up the hill to get there, but it`s definitely worth it for the secluded location. Electric blankets are a masterstroke, as are the cookies at the desk!

The staff should be able to do multi tasking and attend to customer promptly. If they are not at the counter, their handphone number should be available to call them. We didnt notice that they have only specific time to check in which is very wierd. the place is cosy and I like the bathroom in the room. microwave in the dining will be a good idea.

The hostel is about a 20-25min walk up from the station, but it's in a very beautiful location. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and all have great English, one guy is Japanese, but speaks English like a native ^_^ They really go out of their way to be helpful, even when you don't have a car to go up to the most famous waterfall in autumn colour season to see it, they'll offer to drive you up and back. Definitely recommend! It's honestly not that far from the stations!

Utterly superb, the best few days of my holiday. Located in a fantastic position in the woods just outside of Nikko, Nikko Park Lodge has it all- Friendly, helpful staff, very comfortable dorms and a great common area with a lovely log fire. Met loads of people, and the friendliest atmosphere of anywhere I've stayed on holiday. Thoroughly recommended.

The staff is really great- helpful with advice and tips about local hot-spots and directions ect. Dinner was delicious and great for vegetarians which isn't always easy in Japan. I loved the character of the lodge with its fire place, guitars for guests to play, books about Japan, and big comfy couches. The suite was great with plenty of room for 4 of us, and I liked the location just a bit out of the main town area which was more secluded and chill. Definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the Park Lodge. It's a bit of a walk, but the staff was friendly. If you are staying here bring some snacks with you!

I wish I had used Hostel World for my other bookings in Japan. The informality and friendliness at Nikko was wonderful. All the staff were exceprtionally helpful. I am 88 years old, with my son at 63 but we fitted in so easily.

This was a very comfortable hostel - the living area is relaxing, with a log fire and two big cosy sofas. Stayed in a 4 bed dorm - the decor in the corridor and room was a little tired and the room was a bit cramped (no storage space), but the beds were so comfy, and there were electric blankets for when it got chilly! You can eat here and it's good for veggies (tricky in Japan). Nice breakfasts for a bit extra. Location a bit out the way with no car. I'll stay here again if I return to Nikko.

Enjoyed our stay. After arriving on the late train, staff unexpectedly watched for us and picked us up at the station. Staff was helpful with ideas for hikes and walking tours in town. Spoke English and was very friendly. The lobby was charming and cozy.
