Very interesting place, loved the entry hall with wood pieces for the fire, very "wild". The atmosphere is great, exptremely cozy, and the beds are veeery comfy! Moreover, if you are planning to go see the temples in the morning, this hostel is just at the hill base where everything begins - careful only if you are walking uphill from the station with heavybackpack, the second time I would do it with the bus as it was recommended! Loved the place, really.

Our stay was really great, the owners are really warm, as much as their macha and their stove :) I really recommend their place, it was really peaceful, quiet and with a beautiful view. They provide a nice place for weary travelers. Domo arigato gozaimasu.

This is the place to have a japanese traditional stay with a youth feeling. The place is very stylish, well located, big rooms and the communal area is excellent. The only downside is that they close for cleaning, but okay for 1 or 2 nights.

Loved this place! You can't lock your stuff up, but I felt very safe leaving my things. The staff was very friendly and kind. It's right by all the major sights, which was really great. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

This hostel is great! Quiet, quirky, quaint, with friendly staff and in a fantastic setting. On the way here, you walk past many hotels and hostels that are closer to the station, but this is closer to the World Heritage Sites. This hostel has only ten beds in total, so is a cosy place, for the relaxed traveller. And it has a great, hippyish personality.

Great little place with lots of character ran by a young couple, felt like more of a home stay than a guesthouse, so accommodating and a great location, highly recommended.

Loved this place, was really cute and was run by a lovely Japanese couple. Location wise it was amazingly convenient and the place itself was warm, clean and friendly. Would highly recommend, also had some of the fastest and most stable wifi we used the whole trip.

LIKES: Lovely, cosy and comfy place. Great location - very near the world heritage site, as well as the bus stop. COULD BE BETTER: If you want information on what to do or where to visit, ask the people at the tourist information, and get maps from there. The hostel doesn't have maps and they're not particularly great at recommending places. Also the directions there could be a little clearer. CONCLUSION: I'd definitely go back there again.

Great place to stay, the hostel was so cosy and the best of all the wonderful owners, some of the nicest and warm- heartend people I met so far on my RTW- Trip. Thank you very much.

This hostel had so much character and had a great common area. I feel like it was a hidden gem in Nikko and was really happy to stay here.

Nikkorisou was cozy, clean and creatively decorated. The fire place in the common area kept me warm and happy. The location of the hostel couldn't be better! It's just a minute away from the Heritage Site, a short walk to a lovely onsen and near the main road where you can find cafe's and restaurants (which are only open from 10-ish til 4 ish) Make sure to hit up the Seven 11 for noodles and breakfast items, as nothing is open early or late. Atsushi-san and Meg-san were friendly and kind.

Having experienced a range of sterile hostels in Japan with no character, Nikkorisou was a beautiful surprise. I had some great conversations with Atsushi-San and Megu-San who are the delightful, friendly couple that runs the hostel. Feels like a ryokan for young people. The lakeside location is so peaceful and the common area is the perfect chill out zone. Minutes away from Shinkyo bridge and the heritage area, super close to Kanman Gafuchi Abyss (must see) and some great walking trails. Love!

This is a very special place. The staff are as warm as the fire in the common room. Location is ideal for exploring town and temples. A lot of care has been put into small artistic details. It has a unique character that is welcoming and cheerful. Very nice play to stay
