It's pretty much a complete dump.

Although we had a good location, the inside was not as nice. The rooms did not seem to be the safest as people could get in and out fairly easily. The bathrooms were the worst part due to the fact that they were very dirty, both the showers and the bathroom areas in general were pretty sketchy. There was also not even an option to rent a towel which was annoying.

We had a fantastic weekend. Really nice guy running the hostel. Its not your normal shiny hostel but we had a great time staying here

The place didn't look good, except the kitchen. Just two showers were working and the bathrooms were dirty. The person that attend us didn't know that we were coming, so he had to look for a room in that moment. Finally the room that he gave us was not too bad, but we had no key, so it was always opened. I wouldn't recommend that place, the only good thing is that is close to the center.

Some signage would be good around the hostel. It was unclear when we arrived where to go so we left. Called on the phone and returned later. We didn't get much sleep but that was to be expected in a dorm in Galway on a Saturday night. It was satisfactory.

When I arrived there was no one at reception. We waited for a while but after traveling all day we needed to eat other guests just told us to pick a room to put our stuff in and just try again later. Literally walked in put our stuff down and left anyone could have just walked in and done that. The hot water stopped working and the place was pretty dirty. The pictures on here are very misleading.

sorry for the mix up , we are under renovations and there are some changes, we haven't put up the pictures of the new kitchen or living rooms but that would be a positive as they are brand new and much nicer than our old one, other than that the only thing that has changed in the pictures is that we've started to replace our wooden beds with metal bunk beds but again that's a positive change. I will update the photos as soon as I can. sorry again

Nimmos is one of those hostels that will get over looked due to bad ratings and negative feed back, and it does have it's flaws, but it shouldn't be written off. If you want a cheap place to stay in an excellent location and your not fussy about the look of a place then this is for you. If you want nice and fancy, clean and new, etc etc, then find somewhere else. The place is a bit rough but John who runs the place was lovely and very helpful, it was cheap we had a great time here.

Had a brilliant night at Nimmo's last month, we were two girls and one boy staying in a mixed dorm where we met some lovely people. Owner was very nice, Kitchen and lounge were fab. My bed was comfy and clean and we had no problem leaving our things unattended.

Is an old building, with lots of problems noisy (many pubs around), windows don't close properly, mattress really old and uncomfortable. Need a lot of work inside, specially if you pay 19e for a night. The good points, location, breakfast, and atmosphere.

When first arrived there we were treated by an old man who did not even know where the booking book was. The rugs were broken and some of the lamps were too. The room was cold and gave an image of uncleaniness. Then, when returning after checking in, we had no keys and when ringing the bell no one came. We were ringing for 20 minutes and no one appeared. WON'T EVER RETURN HERE. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT OPTION.

sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay , we're working on improving ourselves all the time so we'll take this onboard , I'm not sure what you mean by broken carpets? with regards broken lights sorry some are being replaced at the moment but every room has working lights. all guests are given the door code to get in but in any case you should not have been kept waiting after ringing the bell so for that I apologise, we'll work on the other feedback and hopefully we'll be better in the future :)

Nimmos was dirty and noisy, but we heard from the staff that it had changed ownership and the new owner is redoing everything. The kitchen was huge and beautiful but our room didn't lock and the noise level was high. However, with a pair of earplugs and an eyemask, we got a decent nights sleep and were pretty satisfied with the value for what we paid.

Liked the place and it was very nice and clean. Talked with the manager and "complained" on the shortage of power outlets close to the beds. But that was something that they was working with. So the place will be better loading phones, tablets, computers what ever during the night.

thanks for the feedback , im happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.yes we're working on the number of plugs, we've added several to the dinning room for laptops and added 4 extra in one bedroom. but we've a the rest of the rooms to do yet, most room only have 4/6 sockets which know isn't ideal for mobiles and laptops. sorry about that. but hope you can stay with us again in the future.
