I enjoyed my stay and was amazed at how well they are protecting the Proboscis Monkeys. The guides all seemed knowledgeable and enjoyed what they were doing. Staying at Nipah Lodge meant that I didnt need to pay entrance or photo fees to see the monkeys and got to enjoy a ride to both platforms for each feed at no cost. The only negative would be its location. When staying at Nipah Lodge, max 2 days, you can only see the monkeys, its far from everything else and taxi's are very expensive!

I was disappointed. The pictures looked good, and they were a true representation but the place lacked character and there was nothing to do other than go on trips to the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary (they ran a free shuttle). The place itself seemed to lack the small things that make all the difference - no paper in the toilets in the dorm block, a bit grubby and cramped, etc. Staff seem willing, but disorganised (pick up didn't arrive). Not a place to stay to meet other travellers.
