The bed was the hardest I ever tried. The bathroom is too old, no clean and no nice. Tours were more expensive than in Chinese agencies and it was the same tours. The staf id realy hice and the breakfast golf. The rooftop id a crear plase to drink a beer at nigth.

Rooms were average, but the staff was extremely helpful! The tours you can book through the hostel are cheaper than most, and you can usually get an even better deal with groups of 3 or more. The owner went out of his way to make sure our friends got discounts on their tours, and they weren't even staying at that hostel. He speaks English very well and is more than willing to help with anything you might need.

Great staff, very helpful, trustworthy and friendly. Rooms more like cheap hotel rather than hostel, but the quite location and staff made the stay for us.

This hostel is definitely in quieter part of town, but still really close to everything, was there in April and it was nearly empty, did meet some cool people and the bar upstairs does have an incredible view and is a great place to socialize. not too much to do in the hostel, they did have so nice tours and I enjoyed the kayaking trip. If you like it quite, but not too far away from the action this is the place for you. Book the six bedroom (or smaller) as they have western toilets.

The hostel lacks a bit of Atmosphere due to a hotel style layout and it wasn't the cleanest. However it is great value for money both in room prices, and in activities- the activities the hostel promotes are around tour company prices, or cheaper- bike rental is cheap also. The young guy who works behind reception was really helpful and knew what he was talking about. The rooftop bar has a fantastic view and except for the building works next door is worth a visit in itself.

I booked a dbl ensuite room, 1st rm they gave me had what looked liked a dead bed bug so they changed my room w/out any issues. Washroom was dirty and the shower drain didn't drain very well, they also turn off the hot water after a certain hour - which they didn't mention so I had a cold shower one night. The common area had a very poor atmosphere, not very warm/cozy, didn't even play music. Rooftop bar looked like it hadn't been in use for a year. The other good reviews must be fake!

The hostel is poorly located at the top of Yangshao, away from the buzz of West Street and is dark walking back at night. I stayed 3 nights and the room was never cleaned. The floor became impossible to keep clean due to the ensuite bathroom and also the hostel dog (which was lovely) entered to leave a smell of damp dog. The rooftop bar was deserted and there was no effort to create a fun environment. The food was highly disappointing. Staff were friendly but lacked knowledge you'd expect.

Great hostel! We stayed here for 2 nights. Short walk down to the main street where everything is happening. The staff were great and helped us plan our day trips biking. The rooftop bar gives a spectacular view of the karst mountains.

The staff spoke fairly good English, and they had a lot of information on tours. I really enjoyed watching movies in English with my breakfast, which was also quite good. The location was ideal--five minute walk to the bars/restaurants and far enough away that I couldn't hear any of the tourist noise.

The beds are extremely hard almost wooden. The tempreture with in the building was colder than outside and even after we paid for a second entry card so we could keep the heating on in our whilst we went out for an hour, the heating always got turned off, although they denied it. There was no heat what so ever in the communial area. When we went down for breakfast at 8am there was no one around , we gave up after 10 minutes as we had made arrangements to be elsewhere and could not wait any long

Best hostel ever. The staff was more than just helpful. They were friendly and very available. Hot water, big bathroom, a/c can be use as a heater, clean room, nice lobby where you can listen english movies, great location, a nice dog who lives there and wifi was working really well. I recommand their breakfast : very cheap and really good. The only problem was the bikes we rented at the hostel. They were not in good shape... just make sure that they are okay before you go for a long ride.

Really nice hostel with a great staff. They helped me getting around and picking activities and upgrade me free of charge because the dorms where empty The guy in charge even joined me rock climbing because it was so slow! Because it's low season there was hardly anybody there, not really much atmosphere in the hostel. One remark though, it was cold out and there was no heating whatsoever in the hostel. To warm up you had to go outside.
