Nomad Guesthouse and Hostel Reviews

This is the best place we stayed in 3 months in China. Peter who runs the guesthouse is extremely helpful and friendly. Serves great vegetarian food and if enough people are interested there is a communal meal which is great and a bargain. Located in Shuhe which is much nicer than Lijiang itself although the walking directions seriously underestimate the distances which can be confusing. A guesthouse rather than a hostel it is a very relaxing place to stay for a few days.

Not stayed in a better guest house! Fantastic Veggie food! Peter runs an excellent place.

The Nomad is such a nice place! We are very happy, that we stayed there, even longer than our plan was :) I can recommend the Nomad to everyone who want's to stay in Shuhe/Lijiang. Peter and his staff is really careing about everything! Really good foodand good advices for trips and actions in and arround Shuhe/Lijiang are guaranteed!

It seems like we're not reviewing carefully if we say everything is excellent, but that's the way it is! We're not even vegetarians! We also spent 4 nights in Lijiang old town, and liked that too. Shuhe is similar, just smaller and more laid back, with the possibility of walking out into countryside. For older sightseers, not avid hikers, we recommend equal time in Shuhe and Lijiang old town

We loved the Nomad Hostel! Wonderful atmosphere, great location in Shuhe and Peter - the owner - is super friendly and helpful. The place is quiet and quaint with lots of charme. The vegetarian buffet was a great change to the Chinese food we've been eating for the last couple of months and the breakfast options - if somewhat pricy - are delicious and filling. Doubles are shown online with shared bathroom, this is not correct, doubles are ensuite!

A wonderful place to get away from the crowds in Lijiang old town and have a relaxing stay. Peter manages everything meticulously to ensure you enjoy your time there, and this attention to detail really makes a difference! Great vegetarian menu. The beds are comfortable and rooms all very clean. And since the guesthouse is quite small, the shared bathroom facilities are more than sufficient. Slow internet connection is the only complaint, but this seems to be common in the Lijiang area.

peter the owner and his staff were the best hostes we met during owr trip. the room was clean, the shared bathroom and toilet were cleaned several times during the day and they helped us, even נargained on prices for us several times during our stay. the food was a little bit expensive as in all shuhe and lijiang but different and much more testy. loved the place the plants and the yoga room.

The owner is very hospitable. The room is cozy, well-decorated, clean with reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Pieter, the host, was friendly, welcoming and a great source of local information. The guesthouse was full of character, cosy and comfortable and the food in the restaurant delicious! The location was also excellent. Highly recommended for a great stay in the Lijiang area.

We loved our stay at Nomad and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the Lijiang area. It's actually in Shuhe, which is about a 10 min. drive by minibus from Lijiang, but it has it's own Old Town that we liked even more. The staff at Nomad is exceptional, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is so comfortable and relaxing. This was definitely the nicest place we stayed in on our trip.

The hostel is located not in Lijiang but in the pedestrial area of an other wonderful old town 5 km far from Lijiang, which turned out to be a perfect choice since it's definetly less crowded and more authentic. Peter, the datch owner is wonderful: helpful, friendly and correct: he helps you anytime you need for trips in the neighborhood, and any kind of deplacement; he speaks English of course but also Chinese Our room was not very big but clean and nice, with a big and as well clean bathroom.

Shuhe and the "Nomad" have both been a wonderful surprise to us! Me and my friend have travelled through China for 3 weeks and we needed a rest in a quiet spot at almost the end of our trip. We chose this place a bit randomly by the internet and we've found out it was even more interesting/authentic/pleasant to stay in the picturesque and not crowded Shuhe than in Lijiang. And it has been amazing to live even the simple, perfect, relaxing and warm atmosphere in the hostel. Thx Peter & Co.!Silvia

The best hostel we have visited. Staffs here are very nice. Vetgetarian food here is very good. We love it. Room and toilet are very clean. We will definitly come back again.

Nothing to complain. Our stay was great. Peter is really nice and helped us for everything we needed. Shuhe is nice to visit too and a good alternative to the crowd of Lijiang! Do not hesitate, book it!

For our family, it is people and atmosphere, and spectacular scenery, which characterise special travel memories. Thank you to everyone at Nomad who made our stay peaceful and memorable. After a week it almost felt like "home" , especially for our five year old daughter; complete with stoney courtyard, family dinners and turtle. We will always be grateful for the generosity and open kindness we experienced, and the spirit of Nomad GH will no doubt linger for some time in our travel memories.

Just a little more hot water would make this the best guesthouse in China. I was stressed when I came, and completely relaxed when I left. A wonderful low-key spot if you would rather contemplate the meaning of your existence than put moves on the locals.

We had a great time in Nomad. Peter is most helpful. They have wonderful vegetarian food. A perfect place to stay!
