The owner was quite welcoming. It felt more like a homestay than a hostel which is fine however I believe that to accommodate tourists the rooms should be spruced up - all the room contents were quite old and felt worn out. The linen smelled of damp. The shared bathroom was open and had no space to put toiletries etc It just didn't feel comfortable to stay in. Also, it was really hard to find.

The family is very nice and Gabriel will help you. He brought us to the bus station for free. There is also a lovely dog. The rooms were oke, not very new and there were a few little spiders. The city centre is not close. You can walk, but it will take an hour. The walk is great though, you'll pass a park. And finding the city centre is not hard, just straight on.

I had an excellent experience at Nomadas Backpackers!

This hostel is a little more expensive than others in San Jose, but it's in a nice neighborhood and it feels a lot safer. There is no barbed wire on the fences or bars on the windows. The family that lives here is very nice. Be sure to tell them what time you're arriving because the boys won't let you in unless the parents are home (as they shouldn't). They are very clean and accommodating. Gabriel will pick you up or drive you to the airport anytime day or night in his personal vehicle. Towels!
