Nice breakfast, great pool, nice staff - we were even taken to the closest stop of the Colectivo to the airport by one of them who was about to go in the same direction soon, too.

Great pool and green garden and lots of hammocks. Pretty sociable and easy to connect with others for day trip. Great staff. Salsa lessons and live music on many nights. I think it could use an enclosed lounge for louder / late night socializing, for the sake of both the revelers and the sleepers, but other than that, excellent. I extended my stay.

Special mention for the salsa class ! The staff is great and always available and the place in itself is magical.

Staff was helpful. They offered to shower in an empty room while waiting for my actual room was still being cleaned. These small things and the Salsa of course made that I would definitely recommend the place.

Unclean room, uncomfortable bed.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Guest: The room is very clean but the old floors with historical value have been stained for over 50 years and we prefer not to change them. No one had complained about the mattress I thing it`s time to change it. however we will replace the mattress in that room today. Thank you.

For me a more average hostel, but I stayed only one night. Staff was friendly, but a little unorganized. The breakfast was nice.

The hostel is only a few blocks away from city center. I have two gripes: First-all of the staff was not on board regarding what discounts were on offer at the time. I had to clarify conflicting statements. Second-when they clean out the fridge they leave your food outon the table (even though it is clearly labled) until YOU retrieve it again to put back into the fridge. I witnessed some milk and meat sitting out in the sun. I asked a staff member why they do that, she said, "I don't know."

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Guest, we are very strict with unlabeled food left in the communal refrigerator. We empty it every three days; whatever is not claimed and replaced in the refrigerator, we thrown away. As for the discount policy, it is very clearly expressed and for the four months we´ve had it no one has misunderstood it.: It is simple, the third night has a 25% discount.

The hostel was great, staff very helpful and friendly, breakfast was above average although I wouldn't complain if there were some spreads to put on the toast. My only complaint would be that the toilets were constantly getting blocked, once the staff were aware they fixed it pretty quickly but they never stayed unblocked for long.

Lovely place! Social and nice. Computers free of use. Wifi and nice pool with hammocks. The rooms are simple but clean. The breakfast is ok, but free so that's great!

It is a very very very good hostel that I have lived. The atmosphere is full of relaxation. Evening salsa dance lesson and Trova music performance make the hostel full of fun. Kitchen is another good gathering place. All decoration in the hostel is full of vacation. One thing need to be improved is the breakfast buffet. There is too many flies in the buffet table. I think some plastic cover should be used to cover the food.

Good hostel within walking distance of the main square. Staff are great and they help you to access the major attraction by yourself by providing information on collectivos etc. The first room I stayed in was poorly ventilated as it was a huge room with only a few small windows. The second room was much better as it did not have completely solid walls.

Very nice hostel, in the center of town, but about a four block walk to any restaurants. Otherwise, everything was very good.

You have to be there if you pass by Merida ! It's an amazing hostel : great pool, plants everywhere like orchides, good rooms, nice patio as common space, the salsa course is very good, you can join/arrange group trip for the day very easily at the breakfast or around the pool with a drink at night ;-) Staff is very helpfull too... Had a great time and actually postpone my departure !
