It is a great hostel, good location, nice staff. The beds could be more comfortable.

A nice hostel with a nice vibe. It's big, so if you like you can meet a lot of people. The dorm is quite noisy though, from traffic and fans. And a towel is not included.

The hostel is ok, staff very friendly and helpful. There should be a TV room, and the salsa lessons are funny, but not enough for socializing. Maybe a bar could help. Cleanliness is very good, the swimming pool, great. I'll recommend Nomadas

My husband and I have been traveling around the world for a year now and this is the best hostel we have stayed at. It is in a great location (walking distance to everything) and the staff are very helpful. The place is has a great atmosphere, is clean and the comfortable. There are many good sitting areas and it is a good place to just relax for a few days, especially at the pool, which is clean and big enough to swim in. There are salsa classes and live music at night too.

This place is just what I was looking for. A safe, clean and excellent location, a very short walk to the city square.

The staff was welcoming and always nice and helpful. The girl’s dorm was spacious and clean; the newly renovated girl’s dorm bathroom was well done. Great location, plus a pool with hammocks over it for relaxing! The salsa classes in the evenings were a really nice way to interact with the other guests. Best hostel in Merida, will recommend!

hostel have beautiful pool for relaxing and meeting new people, always something happening it's just 4 block's from city centre, i need to wake up in the morning and didnt have cell phone, staff could even wake you up, if you dont have alarm, like me that day :) well, some balance between price location and service... this hostel is definitelly the best one in merida !

The staff were really friendly ad helpful. The rooms were standard for a dorm, only the main wall leading to the courtyard was all mesh so could get noisy. The toilets in the ladies dorm were being renovated so when they are done i imagine they will be nice. No a/c made it really hot, but otherwise it was a plesant stay.

The location was excellent and the hostel is absolutely beautiful, regarding the staff, I always had the feeling, that they were bored and were not helpful the entire time.

The staff was very friendly and helpful but the room wasn't satisfactory. I know it's a hostel, not a hotel but there were not walls in the upper part of the room, no windows, just "walls" made of branches bound together so when it was rainy, we had water on the beds and on the floor..sorry, but never again.

Staff is quite cold and unfriendly. Breakfast for guests was toast, cold cereal and bananas- this while we watched staff cook eggs and ham for themselves! Lots and lots of restrictive rules. They charge for water from a dispenser, and towels. Have location to handwash and hangdry clothes, but don't provide nor sell any soap. I saw one large rat outside my room at night, but that didn't bug me. My room had a great hammock, excellent wifi speed and connection, and the bugs didn't bug me.

Owner Comment (Show)
Thanks again for allowing us to clarify our standards as contained in the various web pages of NOMADAS: Do not use illegal drugs, only beer and wine is permitted; we want a safe hostel where people can sleep in peace after 12 o'clock at night. For security we do not accept strangers entering the hostel - only those duly registered. There is free personal use of drinking water from water dispener; though if filling up wáter bottle(s) there is a fee of 2 pesos for every 1 liter; this is more economical and ecological than buying a whole new water bottle that costs 8 pesos. Our garden is huge-more than 2000 meters2 with a large pool of 120 m2 and plenty of hammocks and place to sit. There are friendly oppossums at night eating fruit; these are Latin American marsupial (zorrillo, tlacuache o zarigueya) known as Mexican skunk, opossum or possum and not a "rat"; as a Mexican, you should know the difference. There are also butterflies, birds, parrots, and small iguanas. We do not have a laundry machine nor do we sell laundry detergent, however, there is a laundromats only 10 meters from the hostel. It is a small buisness that has provided excellent cleaning service for years and allows a Mexican family to live on its small income. Because of the amount of tourist we get, we can not change every thing for one guest alone. If we did so, it would affect the small businesses and wildlife near us, which we would prefer not to do.

Awesome layout and atmosphere, unfortunately the other guests were not interested in interacting. Our twin room was really big and had 2 fans so it was nice and cool. It had a safe in the room for valuables and you can get fresh towels daily for just a deposit (that you get back). Good location for restaurants and shopping for silver.

Would I stay at Nomadas again? Yes, but only if I get the lower bunk bed because of the personal ventilator. It is really hot there and there is no AC. The pool is nice and the breakfast is OK. The only problem I had is with the night staff... In two seperate ocasions I left a note for two friends who were arriving and they never got them. Dont know whats wrong with the guy... If you really need AC, try Santa Lucia Hostel neer by but it lacks in others things.
