Really nice dorm with AC and nice bathroom ensuites. Pool was good fun and it's close to the lagoon and harbor. Airlie beach is small though so really close to everything. Tough to meet people as a solo backpacker as everyone is in groups already. Yeah you have to rent plates and such for kitchen but that's pretty standard in Queensland. The restaurant almost on site has a cheap meal deal ($10 for dinner and a drink yes please). Would definitely stay again.

No security when bags are stored in the luggage room, the staff sit outside on their phones and do not check if people are taking the right bags. There is also no order to the luggage room so everything is piled on top of eachother. The staff were more concerned about having a chat then serving customers even though there was also a 15 minutes plus wait!

I can't fault the facilities or the location of this hostel. The layout of the rooms as individual apartment style huts was good and we had 2 showers and a toilet between 6 which was more than adequate. I didn't think it was overly clean however with the shower floor pretty dirty. The reception is a mess with not enough staff to accommodate the mass check in and check out. And what is with having to put a deposit for every little bit of cutlery and cooking utensil? Not my type of hostel.

This hostel was not value for money - wifi cost $6 a day, had to put a deposit on any kitchen utensils and the rooms weren't great. Not enough plugs for the number of people, aircon didn't work and there were no lamps. Kitchens were so dirty and food got taken by others. It's very hard to meet people if you are alone as its so huge. ALWAYS a queue at reception, staff are not professional and talk amongst themselves instead of moving the queue along. Would not stay at a Nomads hostel again.

Awesome hostel perhaps more staff at the check in desk so others don't have to wait over 30 mins. But still a great atmosphere and great place!

Had a great stay at nomads! Would definitely recommend! The guy at the travel desk was incredibly helpful! The rooms are spacious and cool.

Stayed 2 night, rooms clean and spacious, aircon freezing on a night and too cold, no way to change setting or switch off. No lockers. I paid for a 6 bed and was put into an 8 bed, the cue at at reception is usually between 5-15mins long. The kitchens have nothing, everything has to be hired. The reception had no forks or mugs left. The kitchen has a massive ant infestation, i had to throw out half my bag of dried food. You gotta store alcohol behind reception, mine was taken by some1 else.

I'm honestly unsure why so many people have commented of the staff being terrible, they are very kind and accommodating! Jaymai - not sure if that's how you spell his name, who is in charge of the tourism is freakin AMAZING and so helpful! Great location, very social and in the middle of all the fun.

I really liked this hostel. Is big, you have two pool, two kitchen, and the rooms have lot of space and even a private bathroom. It is located near everything so you can walk everywhere. Nice people and very helpful reception. The only bad thing is you have to pay for wifi. But you have a lot of wifi public spaces around a city, even a Mc Donald's in 5 minutes walk. So you really don't need it

The renting of utensil was the worst

Beds, rooms, showers etc are all fine. The thing that really disappointed me was how much money they take from you. Having to pay to rent kitchen utensils and store luggage were the craziest cost I saw. I've been to hostels on 6 continents and never seen that before. Especially when the cost for one night is so expensive. Very disappointed by this and it's obvious you're just money to them rather then valued guests..

Website says free wifi in reception area but there wasn't. Was given a key that didn't work and the reception desk had closed by the time I realized the key didn't work. After almost an hour of wondering where I was going to sleep and how I was going to get my stuff before my bus left st 7, I found security to open the room for me. I mentioned this to the receptionist in the morning expecting some type of offer for a discount or partial refund but didn't get one.

I was really pleased with the 8 bed share; spacious, comfy bed, good size bathroom and kept very clean throughout. Pool and bar was good to hangout at and meet people. Good location in centre of Airlie, and wasn't noisy at night. Only downsides were that it kind of wasn't obvious that the Nomads check-in was shared with X-Base, since they dominated the signage, but staff in the travel shop pointed me that way. A/C wasn't really doing much, underpowered for size of room. Bed light not working.

It's a great hostel if you are a solo traveler, really easy to meet people & have fun. Free Wifi doesn't seem to be a thing in Australia like it is in Europe but it would be great if Nomads offered free wifi to its customers. Would recommend & stay again.

Check-in was a nightmare, there were either no staff or they were very slow so you were queuing for ages. My key card did not work 7 times which was very frustrating! The room was okay, but not lockers for valuable. Pool area nice and clean.

only stayed for one night but the bed was so comfy and the room was huge and very clean. the staff at check in/out were very friendly. they had bars, swimming pools, cinema etc etc everything you could want. on the main road of airlie beach so close to everything.

Rooms were clean, bathrooms were decent and good atmosphere but having to rent cutlery, pots and pans was a nightmare. Different prices on different days depending on what you rented. Wifi was very slow and there were not enough staff members to handle people checking in, booking day trips and renting kitchenware.
