I only stayed one night, so I can't comment that much but it seemed that people or small niches of people kept to themselves. I think this is a place where making friends would require a longer stay.

Meet some amazing people, made for a very good night :)

Great for a party. EAR PLUGS ESSENTIAL as there's noise from the bar most nights and long-term construction/road works outside early in the morning. Great location. Staff were nice.

Great location and excellent value for money as you're in the heart of the city....this can lead to loud music all night so take some ear plugs and you'll be fine. Also if in a 10 bed dorm make sure your bag isnt at the head of anyones elses bed as they may be sick on it at 3am! ha ha Got to love the party vibe!

2nd review as made more than one booking here. whoever said there's no lockers must be blind as there are large ones under the beds. just a bring a padlock!

Just before we left, I booked an extra night here for me and my friend and paid cash. When we came back to Auckland a few days later, they had no record of the booking. A bit frustrating, it was eventually sorted. Also the bar next door can be a bit loud at week ends. Other than that good hostel. The staff were helpful but seemed stressed a lot of the time due to lack of staff. I found the guest really friendly!

One of the worst hostels that haver stayed in for several years.

This hostel is the perfect place for party goers passing through Auckland but not the type of place you'd like to spend much time. Otherwise more people than social space and a locker would make such a big difference to security. Finding your room door propped open with shoe for 24 hours makes it hard to feel safe.

Staff a bit rude and kitchen was dirty but I did have a good stay, much better here than the base in U Auckland

Rather strange having booked a female dorm to then have shared shower facilities - didn't bother me but I can imagine that some would not like this set up. The bathroom also flooded one morning (due to an overflowing toilet) and it took a long time for it to be cleaned up with only some small towels to help everyone walk through! Understandable that this happened but there was no apology, offer of alternative facilities. The room that I was in was also really noisy as it overlooked the bar.

Big hostel but gets the job done.

Nomads is probably the best Hostel I've stayed at so far, you always know what to expect. Great facilities, friendly staff with plenty of things happening in the hostel.

Clean hostel. Kitchen is tiny and not big enough for the number of people. My food was stolen from the fridge. Fridge way too small for number of people. Bathrooms clean but they are unisex, even on the girl's floor. There aren't enough toilets on each for floor for the number of people staying. The play LOUD music right outside the dorms i.e. in the corridor. Also, there is a bar right below the hostel. Both noises combined it feels like sleeping in the bar. Location perfect.

I stayed in Nomads for 5 nights in total, its an excellent location for the city and for nightlife (which is what i originally wanted it for) however when you arent partying it is VERY noisy over the weekends due to the bars located around. It is pretty clean and the staff were good its a good place for a short stay and a great location but i wouldnt want to stay more than a few nights as it isnt homely.

Was an alright Hostel. Stayed in a double room that was a little to warm and didn't have a window but the bed was comfortable. Was an ok hostel but didn't have much Character compared to other hostels I have stayed at.

Not very clean in bathrooms/showers. WOuld be much better having separate male/female blocks. They do have female only on 3rd floor but when there are 7 floors...highly inconvenient when you need the toilet at 3am I would think! we were a couple so couldn't really stay on the female only floor! Kitchen was the worst one experienced, not that nice at all! Was charged much more than what I booked through hostelworld. Not sure if this is down to hostelworld or Nomads. Ideal for party goers.

I was at this hostel twice. the first time through Auckland, staff were awesome, room was clean. second time, not so much, my travel buddy had an expereince with bed bug and when she told the staff at the desk they seemed interested. We were glad to leave that morning!

1. The kitchen & dining room are in the roof and birds fly in/out and fly around, very disgusting when eating in the kitchen. 2. I only stayed one night and payed by cash when I checked-in, next day when I checked-out the receptionist said I did not pay cause no records of my payment. Very unpleasant experience. Firstly, they should train employees to do their job well. Secondly, the receptionist should use his brain to think the situation, if I didn't pay, how could I check-in the day before!

They should get some more stuff for the kitchen

Got a en-suite 4 be dorm, slightly more expensive but was clean. also had a tv in room which was nice. kitchen seemed too small for a large hostel but bar was good. staff friendly and helpful
