best thing was the a/c in the room, it was very cool. nice big pool area although the water was to hot. bathrooms should be cleaned more often, one day on all 6 toilets were no tissues left, so it seemed like for 2 days nobody took care of the bathrooms. You only get 2 pieces of toast for free at breakfast. not enough space in the fridges. Far away from city center but the free shuttle bus runs frequently. All in all for 17$ it is a good hostel.
Great hostel with lots of backpackers, nice pool, bar and realax area! Only the location quite far from the city center is less convenient! However the shuttle bus runs every hour until 3 am, which is great! Sometimes a bigger bus would be needed! Great stay in total and very helpful staff!
Nice hostel, but its a bit far from the town centre. If you don't mind walking,it's a nice 30min walk along the promenade, and there is a free shuttle service into town. Good clean bathrooms.
I've put facilities as average bc there are amazing facilities: pool, volleyball net... And they were pretty good. However, basic facilities like toilets and kitchen were atrocious. On Thursday night by 8 pm, 5/6 toilet stalls were clogged. By 10 pm, there was no toilet paper. The bar is really cool, but didn't have the open friendly vibe I found at Nomads Byron bay. People seemed to have a clique and not being part of it, I didn't feel very welcome.

It's such a nice hostel and it's really good value for money, the staff are utterly shocking though. A blonde German girl there was the rudest, I think she was working for acc so maybe thinks she doesn't need to use basic manners. Or maybe she was raised in the forest by wolves. She wasn't the only one but was the worst. Won't be staying again, which is a shame because the hostel is really nice, I just refuse to give my money to people like that.

Good apart from Air con needs to be turned on by reception. After 3 nights of asking, a few of us in the room thought it didn't do much, mentioned it to reception who said there are 2 rooms where it doesn't work, and it was bad luck that ours was one of those. 10 people in a poorly ventilated room with no air conditioning was not enjoyable and also not our bad luck but poor maintenance on the hostels part. Only 2 plug sockets between 10 people, 1 of which had a fan in which reached only 2 beds.
A good atmosphere just a shame the toilets and showers weren't that clean. The 10bed form only had 8 lockers and seemed like an extra bed had been squeezed in. The shuttle bus was really useful
The room was quite dirty and very hot and .all the shelfs in the kitchen and in the fridge were occupied. In terms off atmosphere I didn't like it that much as it seemed like everyone was working/volunteering there and not interested in meeting new people. The location isn't good if you want to go to the city center but very good if you want to go to the botanic garden, do the nice red or blue arrow walking/running circuit and to do the boardwalk through the rainforest to the lakes.
Great hostel, energy by the bar but quiet upstairs to rest. Well appointed kitchen, big bathrooms, great travel desk and excellent staff. Manager Jason was superb and all needs taken care of. Stay here.
Value for money. Stayed overnight for a stop off - Great location, not far from cairns airport.
