I guess they are still the cheapest - and that is important, too. Just it would be more suitable if you wangt just party, and do not mind about anything else much. The free meal they offer runs out...

Most staff go out of their way to do you favours and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. This hostel is a great place to meet people and plan the rest of your time in NZ. I can't recommend it enough!

location looks a bit dirty but at least its not straight on the main road but a 2 min walk away. good food n drinks nextdoor. great to get dinner but the portions are small. still cool so you meet everyone who stays at the hostel n ve drinks while dinner! also the roof deck of the nomads hostel is free to be explored n you meet more backpackers :) And the idea of more rooms sharing a kitchen was awsum! I met some great pplz cause of the little common room. Had a good time.

Loved the apartment kitchens on each floor, staff very welcoming and friendly and the showers are fine! They do the job, are nice and hot and great value for money at $19 a night :) will definately be staying here when I come back to Auckland!!

I liked the way that there were appartments with several rooms. Often, in large hostels, it is difficult to make contacts, but this system makes it easy even for a larger hostel. I appreciated very much that the staff was in around the hour. They have also been a big help in providing us with information about the things to see and do in Auckland. Thanks for a very pleasant stay!

This hostel has very dirty facilities, and very dirty rooms as well. Compared to another Nomad hostel where I have been to (at wellington), it is simply night and day. Nomad Wellington was newly renovated, atmosphere was modern, and it was average clean.

The room we stayed didn't have any window. They charged more for the rooms with window but didn't warn us about that in the booking information. It was very dirty. There was something rot in the luggage room: it was extremely stinky. The bathroom was very bad and water got accumulated in the shower floor

Overall, this was a VERY enjoyable stay. Only a few points of feedback: 1 - We had a bunk-bed which sounded like it was about to collapse every time someone so-much-as scratched their nose (the person on the top bunk weighs in at 56 Kgs, so that was not the issue). 2 - The toilet in our area was frequently out of order. 3 - Our room did not have a window, which we were never told about and if we had the option we would have selected a room with a window. 4 - A lamp would have been handy to have.

The staff at this hostel are rude and dismissive at the reception desk except for a few. They don't seem to notice it is their job to respond to guests and the cleaning staff are unbelievably rude. The cleaniness itself is really bad with dirty kitchens, broken showers and dirty rooms. The location is very good and the other guests you meet there are fantastic, but the hostel is just taking advantage of this and couldn't care less.

The place is fine for a night, which was all I stayed, but any longer and you might want to look elsewhere.

Reception is not at all organised, you see people moving out cause they should change rooms, but move back in 3 hours later in the same bed as before. Not always friendly, they joke with your language accent,... could do A LOT better!!! Showers are really bad, 1 shower has a boiler problem so the answer was that this wouldn't be fixed soon. Rather bad answer. Housekeeping is VERY FRIENDLY and extremely good in keeping common places clean, rooms a little less. 2 lockers for 4 beds = not enough

An alright hostel. Having kitchens in each apartment is good. We changed rooms over the two nights we stayed there and we were a little annoyed at having to check out for 3 hours where we had to move our bags into the luggage store before checking back in later. Plus there really was no need for the big lock on the luggage door as the staff just had you the key and you can rummage through anyone's bags as it is on the first floor away from the reception. Windowless room on 1st night was no good.

The idea of the apartments is great, but it is very dirty, it smells bad all the time (no windows), the rooms are not very well cleaned, and cleaning staff seems to take everything they want in the room: one of my friend got his Ipod stolen, while the other one got 2phones stolen and his Ipod. Everything in 2days, It is well located, and is always full), but they could manage to paint the walls of the 1st floor (the TV room), clean the room where you leave your luggages (it is very dirty)...
