If you want to tuck into genuine Italian culture and friendliness, I highly recommend Novecento. Outside look is normal, but inside it is surprising, with a nice Italian style, big lightful rooms and old beautiful furniture. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Perfect location on the main street, close to everything. Cleanliness is first class. They serve an excellent breakfast, with typical Sicilian bread and orange marmalade. Extra services included free internet and use of bicycles.
