Staff are very approachable, extremely friendly and helpful, show you how and where to go to save money. Hostel is very safe and well located, central downtown Cairo, close to shops, restaurants, cafes, churches, mosques , Tahrir square and Egyptian museum. Free wifi throughout hostel. Multi channel, multi language television in all rooms, constant supply of hot water, breakfast provided, perfect hostel accommodation for travelers on a budget.

Great place to stay. Clean and tidy rooms. Staff very helpful and speak english. Easy walk to main railway station, museum, banks, airlines and restaurants.

The hostel itself was decent, I have seen cleaner rooms and less noisy places though. My main issue was the staff. Their main goal seemed to be to sell you overpriced tours. We did one of these tours hoping to get quality and no hassle as promised by the hostel. In fact it was a scam. The driver kept bringing us to shops which tried to sell us stuff very aggressively. When we refused to buy things they simply dropped us off at gizeh and told us they would not be our tourguide there.

Hostel is located in heart of down town of Cairo. Distance to Egyptian Museum is really small (10 min walking) as well to another points. It's a great advantage! Staff has got really positive attitude to guests. They are very helpful, especially for people who stay first time in Cairo. Rooms are ok, it's hostel standard. Bathroom could be better - now it's annex to the room. Best regards for all Nubians ;)

I highly recommend the Nubian hostel. The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is extremely kind. Also, the location is in downtown Cairo, a few blocks away from Tahrir Sq. In addition, the managers are extremely helpful in setting up a tour and they also help to make sure that you don't get ripped off. I would definitely return to the Nubian.

I'm not sure why all the previous reviews are so positive for this place. Sure, the staff are friendly, but this is Egypt - you have to pay Egyptians to stop smiling. The first room I stayed in had a pane missing from the window - I couldn't sleep because I was covered in mosquito bites. After two nights I moved to another room -both rooms looked different to the photos that they show - I found the place to be dirty, old, and mostly smelling of cigarettes. They never changed the bed sheets once.

tThe hostel is located in an excellent area in downtown Cairo 5 minute walk from Tahrir Square. The kamal and magdi are extremely nice and helpful, picked us up from the airport. The rooms are clean and quiet and the bathrooms have hot water. They helped us get around Cairo and aranged a pyramid tour and a city tour for us as well. At the end of our trip, they let us keep our luggage there and use the showers even though we had checked out days ago no charge.

Basic hostel, but clean and with nice and helpful people

There are two main things making this hostel worth the stay when someone is spending a few nights in Cairo. One is the location, with its 'alternative' cafes all over the neighbouring streets, the other is the two genuinely helpful owners, who are really willing to give support in any possible way one would require.

We had a great stay at this hostel. Magdy, the manager was very attentive and gave us good advice. He explained briefly the trips offered by the hostel, but without insisting (which, from what we heard from other travellers is a common practice at other hostels in Cairo). The hostel itself is clean and comfortable, the rooms very quiet. The location is just perfect: 10 minutes to El Tahrir square and just down the hostel is an area with loads of cafeterias crowded with Caireans smoking shisha.
