I really wanted to give this hostel high marks, but I simply couldn't because of several reasons. Sergio, the man working the front desk was not very welcoming. On both days that I stayed, he seemed to work on HIS own schedule. he had me and others wait for when he was ready to assist us. When questions were asked, he acted annoyed and frustrated. At one point, I had to tell him to calm down and this was done while other's were working and customers were waiting too. Very rude man!

Generally Nuovo Ostello di Bergamo was good, but for sure there are things that can be improved. Let mention here the atmosphere from the room which look like a hospital one, clean, but didn't transmit anything at all.

In all my years of traveling and staying in hostels, I've never had the front desk person (Sergio) be so unprofessional and unwelcoming. On both days, Sergio was not eager to share information about the city, nor was he willing to go out of his way to help me with anything. I noticed that his bad attitude wasn't just directed at me, as he was also rude and not very hospital to the other guests. Ex: During my check-in, he was demanding and when I asked questions, he was very aggressive.

Beautiful place. On the side of a mountain with a terrace with view. NOT in the center of Bergamo - But good bus connections to the city. Clean and comfortable.

From terrace is a nice view of the city and mountains. Good bus service to the center, good breakfast, vending machines for drinks and food, very friendly service. The bathroom in the room. Lockers in the rooms are not locked.

Good breakfast, hard to meet people when the common room is reserved all the time. Location, its not near the old town but the buses are easy to navigate. Thanks :)

We really liked this hostel. Had twin private ensuite with TV and lots of channels and a balcony. Beds were like new, good mattresses. The girl at reception was very friendly and speaks very good English. Breakfast was good. After traveling 2 weeks around Morocco (where many hostels were far from being perfect) here we felt like in paradise! hehe

I stayed only for one night, skipped the breakfast, because of an early flight, but I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very nice, the room was very clean and big enough. There was a bathroom for the room, which was also very clean. The only thing I didn't like, was the location - very far from everything, but I assume that in day light and no fog, the view is worthed :-)

Great place to stay. Only 10 minute bus ride from the city center and old town. Beautiful views. Free wifi and they have a computer you can use for free. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Friendly, helpful staff.

The hostel is perfect!!! But it's a problem to find the address:( When I got off at Via L. da Vinci it was dark and cold... And there were nobody in the street. It's hard to find the hostel without any signboard because the city is located on the mountain. The streets are coming one above another (it's a labyrinth!). I was lucky when I met one girl who was entering some privet house and asked her... She's guessed: "You have a bag and you stand here... so you need Ostello?" It's a problem!

The staff was just an old man who only speaks Italian and just a few English words. He did the check-in so slowly that we were waiting half an hour. People from other rooms was yelled until 1 am or more an no security asked them to be quite

The relation quality-price is a shame, I think this hostel shouldn't be on the list . I was really dissapointed since the beginning. The breakfast is really small, my room was noisy because of the fan to warm up the room( you cannot regulate the temperature of course), the smell was strange and the sheets were dirty.Another big problem with this hostel was that I couldn't go in the hostel from 11 am to 16 pm, don't know why but nobody wanted to open the door to go in my room. The workers are fine.

Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff; although it's been really cold outside, room was warm inside; also I cannot say a bad word about the tidiness - everything was kept neat. Cons: as for me mainly the fact that it is far from the city centre. I would definitely visit this hostel once more if i visit Bergamo once again.

Nice hostel in a good quiet area. Bus stop just outside to get to the station, ideal for flights.
