A great part of the Staff (all the people in charge) are very gentle and helpful

The place was absurdly clean and organized. The locations is also great; 10 min walk from a huge mall, a few pubs and Belo Horizonte biggest concert place 'Chevrolet Hall'. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great place to stay.

Incompetent staff who tried to make me pay more than I should. I've never seen an hostel so dirty, and with so few bathrooms (the greatest number didn't close). The aera itself has nothing exceptional: it's not in Savassi as written, but in Sao Pedro.

Hello, The staff was nice. But I think it is important that one of them can speak another language than portugees. Everybody of the staff speaks only portugees. They try to explain everything very well but it is difficult for people who don't understand portugees. The breakfast was from 7u-10u, which is good. But when I came at breakfast at 9u. All the juice and cheese was left and they only had meat. I am a vegetarian and don't eat meat. For drinking was only cafe and leite. I don't drink.

I am staying here because there are very few options in Belo, a city which I have come to love. There is nothing exceptional about this place, unfortunately-everything is just average or below. The hostel is in a very safe, beautiful neighborhood, but far from the main part of the city for walkers like me. NO ONE SPEAKS ENGISH, which i find absurd. I speak Portuguese fluently, but half the people here don't speak a word and I have translated several times already. It could be much better.

The location is great, pretty close from everything. And the staff is the highlight for sure. The hostel is clean, but nothing remarkable. And the worst part, for me, was the security. They open the door for everyone, doesn't even checks who is it. And there's no padlock on the locker. You have to buy one in the city.

The hostel was a real disappointment. Despite its excellent location, the hostel had no record of my reservation with Hostelworld for which I paid a deposit. As a result, we ended up with an inferior room which we did not request. The communication between Hostelworld and the hostel needs to be improved. When we left, the debit card machine was not working (apparently for several days) which left us tight for time since we had to get money from a distant bank machine.

Generally a good hostel but there's room for improvement ;-) good: location, staff, breakfast, cleanliness (they clean often) not so good: some rooms are very cramped, with no lockers in the room and bunk beds for 3 people! (never seen before); no lockers for all!!! that's really not so good for security; the door of some toilet doesn't lock!!

Very quiet during the week, picked up a bit more on the weekend. Nice mix of long-termers and people just in for a day or two. The porch is the perfect place to just chill for a while and enjoy the city.

Warning! suitable for emergency accommodation only! The staff were ignorant and rude. The front door was never locked, and there are no lockers in the rooms, just in the small comunal area. My room was tiny, with 3 triple bunks and no room for bags, peeling paint and dirty. Its not even in Savassi, but a fairly long walk along a main road to get to Patio Savassi (good food court). Go to Inhotim, near BH, but a

Good for 1 or 2 day no more!

Very good place! Nice people in the lobby! a taxi from the center till there about 12 r$ not expensive. nearby the savassi.

Staff was very nice and accomodating!

Superou minhas expectativas, pessoal nota 10!! Me senti em casa...galera muito animada, ambiente traquiilo, bem decorados, aconchegantes. Muito bem localizado, perto de TUDO! A família o sorriso do lagarto esta de Parabéns!! Recomendo!

A VERY basic hostel indeed. The rooms were barely tolerable, the place wasn't very clean and there was no hot water (apart from the pathetic showers). It was only saved by the cost, the location and the nice balcony where you could sit out and eat. I coudn't recommend this place to anyone.

A few things: 1st-the directions are slightly wrong it is the third stop once you get on the final street. 2nd- dont stay in large male room it is in a garage celler and leaks/smells like mildew. 3rd-staff seemed never to be around to help with anything.

Good hostel, near to the center of Belo Horizonte but situated in a quiet place. The staff is very gentel and cool and the location is safe. The hostel have a very confortable balcony, with view on the city, tables and sofas to take breakfast, reed, or talk with the brasilian people living there. O sorriso do lagarto also has a very good hostel in Ouro Preto!

could be a better breakfast

This hostel was HORRIBLE. I would not suggest that anyone stay here. We encountered numerous problems. First, though we had booked a double bed months in advance, when we got there, they put us in a room with a bunk bed and a small single bed. Next, I was harrassed by a drunk man at the hostel. Also, the directions to the hostel were not clear and the hostel is actually farther than they claim. And finally, they overcharged us when we were checking out. Find another place to stay!
