They left kimono robes on our beds when we stayed! Very unexpected and a nice touch. I would definitely stay here again. The directions were a touch confusing and if I had to change anything it would be clearer directions. We were very please.

The social area was confined to one table and 6 chairs, which meant it was very difficult to meet people. Having a good social area is perhaps one of the most important elemets of a good hostel

Love the hotel. Well located. Not noisy despite having dorms over at the eastern side of the building. Friendly, good english-speaking staffs.

Very comfortable staying in a private bunk. I wish though that wifi wasn't as spotty as it was during my stay but that can be accounted for a lot of people trying to connect and use the wifi at the same time. If possible, at least on the first floor, try to use newer/ purchase more routers to handle the load for all guests staying there. I will definitely stay again in the future ^^ arigatougosaimasu

Well Located. 10 min walk from Ueno station which is a major hub for both the Tokyo Metro and JR lines. 2 min walk from Inaricho subway station which will take you to Ueno if your lazy. Senso-ji temple and Asakusa within walking distance. 24h convenience store down the street which was nice. Staff are overwhelmingly helpful. A bit far from Shibuya or Shinjuku but they can be reached in 30 min by the JR Yamanote line from Ueno station. Rooms are well equipped but small (it's tokyo)

Lovely staff and a wonderful location. We stayed in a private double and it was the best equipped hostel room we stayed in whilst in Japan (wifi, private shower and toilet, TV, hairdryer, aircon). The only downside was the lack of communal areas to meet other travellers. The kitchen was pretty small too. It's in the same room as the washing machine and dryer! We didn't actually cook though; the area is surrounded by cheap and delicious eateries. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

This is a great place to stay. It provides excellent value ofr money. The staff were helpful and friendly, the facilities were very clean, and the sushi party was a lot of fun. It is a great place to interact with other travellers and it is located a short walk from Ueno station on the Yamanote line. The ensuite bathrooms are very small but it is Tokyo after all and for the price I really don't mind.

This simple well maintained hotel/hostel was perfect for our travel needs in Tokyo. The staff was helpful considering the fact that our arrival plans were delayed by a day. They even invited us to a sushi party that we were too exhausted to attend. The location was close to Ueno station, making it easily accessible to the JR and Kesei Railways. There is also an awesome ramen shop very close by that we frequented. Overall, a great experience in their traditional Japanese style room.

I had a great stay. I was happily surprised at how easy the location was to find, and how close it is to the major Ueno station.

Great facilities. Drink, coffee, and beer machines in the lobby are really convenient. Staff are incredibly friendly and generally helpful. Computers in the lobby and wifi on all floors was also very convenient. Location a little out of the way, but Inaricho is on the same line as Shibuya, which was a relief as I went to shibuya a lot and didnt want to change trains.

This is my 2nd time staying at Oak Hostel after trying various hostels in Tokyo and I must say Oak Hostel is still the best so far, in terms of service, location, security, facilities and cleanliness. The dorms are competitively priced when compared to other dorms that are in less accessible places and sure, you pay a premium for private rooms but what you get is the standard of a business hotel with the warmth and friendliness of hostel staff at an affordable price. Oak Hostel wins hands down.

The air-conditioning/heating systems in both rooms were I stayed were very noisy even when turned off. The bathrooms were very small even for an old business hotel. The location is good; close to Ueno station and Asakusa.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. A bit far from the sights in Tokyo, but the metro is so close and super convenient anyway.
