fantastic for access to the airport for anyone arriving or leaving. mount eden village itself is a lovely little place and easy enough to get the bus or walk to the city (about an hour) the kitchen in particular was fantastic - one of the best we've seen. didn't really use many of the other facilities but they were all present and we could've done if we'd wanted to. staff were friendly and helpful when we needed them.

Great hostel, in a nice residential area, but with plenty of restaurants and shops down the block. The staff was incredibly helpful and the rooms were spacious. I stayed in the 3 person dorm and it had in-room locker space as well as individual "closet" lockers.

Very good hostel and very cheap! Clean, good kitchen and great atmosphere. Only thing is wifi wasn't free.

Brilliant place to stay. One of the best hostels I have stayed at and mainly because how they describe the place is how it is. Other places tend to bend the truth a little to entice you to stay where as Oakland's lodge is exactly as they say. It is very clean, staff are exceptionally nice and go out of their way to help you, kitchen is clean, and location is only a 10minute bus to city centre

Very nice hostel. Located outside of aukland CBD is perfect to unwind and relax. Plenty of spaces to relax, spacious kitchen, clean toilets and a mellower crowd :)

Very friendly hostel! Big thanks to Jonny and Alex for making me feel so welcome on my stay. The location is a great, in one of the nicest areas of Auckland, with shops and a bus into the CBD only a one minute walk from the hostel. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely place close to the shopping street of Mt. Eden. All the facilities you might need, great kitchen, nice little garden in the back. Nice staff, decent beds, enough bathrooms. Only thing that was a bit of a inconvenience for us is the fact that the kitchen closes for one our furing the day for cleaning, which somehow always was when our tummys were rumbling.

Nice rooms and clean facilities. Free wifi (always a bonus) and friendly staff. Reimbursed money for missing a night as explained I had tried to contact before office closing hours the night before.

Lovely hostel with friendly and helpful staff. Mt Eden is a really nice area with lots of bars and cafes. The hostel has a big kitchen and a decent amount of showers. Feels like a home away from home!

Oaklands Lodge is an excellent starting point for people already travelling together to begin their New Zealand adventures. Mount Eden is a quiet but nice area with excellent transport links into downtown Auckland. The staff were outstanding - friendly and knowledgeable. However, it is dominated by long term stayers who are very welcoming, fun and friendly, but as a single traveller it is not a good place to meet other single travellers. Try Pentlands nearby if you want to meet travel buddies.

Place was very clean, nice staff willing to help you if you need something. Close enough to Auckland that it only requires a 2 dollar bus ride. Plus it's right next to Mt Eden which is a beautiful hike leading to a great view of the city.
