Enjoyed our stay here so much that we ended up coming back during our return trip to Auckland. Located in Mount Eden which is a bus ride or long walk into the city. Suited us quite well and were more interested in a quiet stay whilst in Auckland. Every part of the hostel was clean and the kitchen facilities were probably the best of any hostel I stayed in whilst in New Zealand. Would highly recommend staying here if you are after a quieter stay in a beautiful part of the city.

another badly designed building tiny rooms stayed in a twin very small but cheap very hot .room was right on street so noisey with late night revellers and garbage trucks early morning. hostel was confusing to navigate with 2 large kitchens that dominated and left less space for recreation. no outdoor space for recreation ,smoking ect had to be done on street or tiny outside porch . dark narrow corridors. it didnt feel like a place that people stayed in too long never saw any long term types

We are in a nice quiet residential area within the lovely Mt Eden village. The rubbish does get emptied once a week, so I am sorry if the bin men disturbed you. Your booking was in a dorm room and then you extended your stay in a single room, so a bit confused about your room description. There is a lovely rear garden with BBQ, seating area and lawn for all guest to use and socialize. The kitchen is very large and plenty of space to cook your meals.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good big kitchen with multiple hobs- lots of people can cook at the same time. The place was clean and secure. Quiet location, sociable hostel but rooms were quiet so easy to have an early night if you want it. Would recommend

Great people running this place and great long term and short term guests! Beautiful Neighbourhood as well.

Quiet location away from the city centre, but easy to get to the city ($2 by bus, frequent service.) Plenty of shops, cafes and pubs nearby in Mount Eden village; supermarket about 15 min walk - open until midnight; on bus route to airport. And that's in addition to the friendly and helpful staff and clean facilities, which all adds up to a great place to stay.

It was simply the perfect start for my adventure in New Zealand. Who doesn`t want to be stressed by Auckland`s city center, should definitely choose to stay in the Oaklands Lodge within the beautiful Mt. Eden Village! Recovering from jet lag, planning and sorting things and just arriving. Great people and all in all just an amazing overall package! Best choice :) Thank you guys! Cheers, Petra

Has a great second stay at Oakland lodge! The only thing that made me wanted to look for a flatshare quickly was that they don't allow long stay in the hostel from now on. that means that I wasn't able to stay more than 2 weeks and that the family feeling won't exist anymore! Sad about that!

Really enjoy my stay at Oaklands Lodge. In fact, I just booked today for 3 weeks!!! The hostel is very clean, the staff super friendly as the other guests and it feel very safe. It's almost like a home away from home, except that to have to share a room with total strangers!! ;) Totally recommend this hostel to anyone.

quiet and clean place away from the city center. nice to avoid the party hostels in the center. bus to city center costs you 2$ only. i also like that its a flat building with just one floor up, it has a garden and you can climb up mount eden in 20 minutes. some comments complain about guests staying on long term. yes you will meet them and they can tell you a lot about their experience in nz! and you will also meet a lot of short term stayers. around 50/50 for my stay. i liked it that way!
