Hostel is awful. Most residents live there, meaning the rooms are dirty and messy. The kitchen is vile and staff were not helpful at all. Directions from airport to hostel are not clear and you will need at least $30 extra to pay a deposit for bedding and cutlery !!

I stayed one night in the female dorm. The room was very messy, smelly and dirty, shower room is also dirty. I was hardly to staying in the room cuz of that. They give me the blanket, bed sheet and pillow, which are so smelly and I think it wasn't washed after the previous usage. This is not the only dorm I stayed at during my holiday in Perth, but this surely is the worse. Positive point for this hotel is only a helpful & friendly staffs.

The private rooms are pretty good, and a friendly staffmember helped us get a nice and quiet one! but the dorms are messy and there are often loud parties in the courtyard (and some private rooms face that way..)... The no drinking permitted on the premises rule is pretty much a joke.. The location is excellent and all in all pretty good value place! We keep on going back despite everything mentioned above :)

I only stayed 1 night, there are too many permanent tenants who make it really uncomfortable for travellers. The ensuite was full of their stuff, dirty towels on the floor and cockroaches everywhere! Food was also kept in the rooms, and the door was often left open or unlocked. Messy room! There is a lot of noise from the hotel next door too. It is in a great spot, and the staff were excellent when I requested a bottom bunk due to health issues, they also refunded my stay without any hassels.

A very unpleasant experience. Supplying earplugs to deal with the problem of after 9.00pm noise does not deal with the problem. The loud talking in the Courtyard, music and offensive language continued until 11.40 pm one evening and until 3.40 am another evening. The bus directions to get to the hostel were misleadingly simplistic - there was no mention of the difficulties in making the connections in the City to find the right bus. If cleaning of the private rooms is only going to take place ev

This is the noisest hostel I have stayed in. Officially it's a no alcohol hostel, but on the night I arrived (a Saturday) people were outside int he courtyard all night and didn't go to bed until it was light, I'm pretty sure they weren't drinking soft drink. There is a pub next door, so it's possible they were drinking there. Most of the people there live there and have little consideration of others. All the other nights I stayed there were fine, so hopefully those people were thrown out.

If you wanna be close to the beach, Ocean Beach Backpackers is you're best choice ;) Rooms are big and clean, kitchen is average/good, free body board rental is great, (surf boards as well, but i wouldn't call those old rotten pieces surf board...), cinema and xbox for the rainy days, everything you need is there. a bit annoying is the fact that smoking is allowed in the outdoors area of the hostel, which is the only way in and out of the hostel... they should definitely change that!
