Staff was really nice and the breakfast was good, and the place was almost empty when I stayed there. Place is pretty clean. Location on the other hand is quite poor, at least 20mins walk from leblon beach and all the shops etc. Theres a nice little beach next to the hostel though. Also didnt feel quite comfortable walking from ipanema back to the hostel or leaving the hostel even in the daytime because there were quite suspicious people near the hostel. luckily there's buses going until late.
Very nice hostel! Really nice staff, next to a really nice favela! Very safe!
Everything about the place was disapointing, from location to cleanliness. Only good thing is the view on the sea, but for me that is not enough to enjoy the stay. I wouldn't book this place ever again, even though I slept in many other cheap places, this one is bad. I also stayed 3 nights in Leme and that was much more central, close to the beach and even cheaper.
Had a great stay, staff were lovely very helpful rooms very clean, felt safe, view of beach amazing, easy access for transportation to copacabana beach I'd recommend
Loved the place!!! Great atmosphere, great location (just over Leblon beach) and a perfect place to go to meet a lot of new people from all around the world. Rooms are small and a bit overcrowded, but it's also a nice way to get to know each other. If you're a picky traveller looking for comfort, that' s not the place for you. If you want a lively, young, friendly and international that's the place to be. They organize guided tours of the city and nightlife activities.
Good atmosphere from Bruno and very helpful mother. Nice breakfast, good location ( due to offsite access to local ATM and mini supermarket and quiet beach as opposed to ipanema/copa beaches ). A bike hire facility here would appeal here if only one was available. Hint hint..and a notice board with things to do, places to see, moving on places, and especially traveller comments, in a lot more depth would make this place a lot more 'traveller' type of hostel, just a thought. Upstairs bar ?
So called breakfast is poor, a bag of toast, a small box of cheese slice roll, a glass bottle if biscuit, a thermos ( coffee),the form of it makes you think they belong to a guest who left them. Staffs are with very limited (or none) English, a bit insensitive, yet with friendly face.
A pretty good hostel quite close to Leblon beach with nice view on the sea. The main problem of this place is that there's not much space in dorms and lockers are in a common area. The kitchen was also very small. Still, a good place for a weekend stay, if you want to be in Rio for a longer time, go somewhere else.
Great views and atmosphere, somewhere to escape the standard Gringos tourism.
Staff here are very friendly and helpful. The place is really clean. Location is quite good and a walk away from the beach.

Dirty toilets, never any toilet paper, lazy and fed up staff. Felt like the beds were going to cave in (assembled from really thin timber). People watching television until 3am right outside our room. Booked 3 nights but only stayed one. Would not reccomend, not value for money

All showers were cold, not a point during the hot daytime, but in the evening a hot shower is appreaciated. The 12 pers dorm was the smallest we've been all three months, way too small for twelve persons and all their luggage. The hostel was very crammed.
The communual areas could definitely do with being spruced up to add more character,
the rooms were tiny, and still had 9 beds, stacked in triple bunks. one of the employees came in whenever she got home drunk and woke us up, poor social area, and activities organised were almost non existent. would rather pay a little more and stay in a beter hostel.
Very nice staff, quite ok location, good atmosphere. But I am not sure that the owners ivested too much in the hostel. Simple old house, tooo many beds in small place. Value for money? Maybe in current Rio situation but not in my home. Anyway overall impression is good. Not because of facility. Because of guests, staff and athmosphere.
Great staff, had lots of fun, good location, a short walk from the beaches and really close to a number of restaurants and eateries. Good place to meat people!
A party hostel for sure, might be too loud for sleeping if you are not planning to go out at nights, but also has good company to rock the city with. Has lovely monkeys to greet you in the mornings and a delightful view of the ocean in the backyard. Rooms are very snug, but there are lockers for backbags.
1,cramped,people barging into rooms, pressure to pay for a BBQ as soon as people checked in, rooms stuffy over crowed and no space. very loud music playing till 4 no consideration for all guests. toilets dirty, no toilet paper. kitchen filthy. staff pleasant enough and coffee good
We really enjoyed staying here, you get to see the beautiful views of Ipanema, fab. the girls working at the reception were fab really helpful and friendly with perfect english. Nice brekkie, the 6 bed dorm is two triple bunks, prob to small for 6 ppl but we only had 4 so phew. I would defo reccommend the hostel theres a nice vibe there.
Decent place - if a little off the beaten track on the road out of Leblon. Fun for New Years, and also didn't try and rip people off (5 day minimum 200 reals per night etc) which was refreshing.
