We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Island Inn. We were a little sceptical as we entered the Inn, 66 and 77 married couple. However we were very quickly at ease. The reception staff were great, the meal available in the evening was just what we needed after a long day of travel and the Blue Grass group playing in the bar were superb. We sat and listened and cheered them all evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.

The staff were terrible, and refused to help out when i couldn't make my reservation date. They charged my credit card with the whole amount for the stay and refused to budge. not impressed.

$30 per night (6 bed mixed dorm) may seem expensive for a hostel, but it's cheap for Victoria. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this one got it right - they're organized and professional but create a relaxed atmosphere. The place is always buzzing with friendly people, and having a shared kitchen on site (and a fridge in each room) is a huge bonus. After staying 4 nights, I found nothing to complain about. Good spot.

Includet breakfast would be good! And some aktivities to see the city or other stuff and meet people at daytimes .

The bunk beds are awful, otherwise everything was great!

I thought the staff was extremely friendly and hospitable, and I particularly liked Emily. I find she was the one I was best able to socialize with easily.

I have very little experience with Hostels but this one offered good but very basic value and a friendly atmosphere for the money that I spent. Staff were courteous and helpful. No elevator, though and the least expensive single rooms are very small and noisy, Good location with exercise of normal traveler's caution at night.

Hostel was clean, friendly and a great place to stay all around. Stayed in a single private room and loved it, for one person the room was small but not cramped. Nice big window above the bed meant lots of light coming in, felt like I was really a part of the city. Only one minor security issue: secure gate on the second floor with access to the rooms was left propped open sometimes during the day.

A very unique hostel. Actually it's more like a hybrid between a hostel and boutique hotel, with the various configurations of private rooms and dorms they offer. The small private I stayed in was just large enough for a double bed, a small refrigerator, and a few shelves to store toiletries, etc. With all of the private rooms, there seems to be less of a social atmosphere than some hostels, but the bar downstairs is a great place to meet other travelers, and I had a fun time during my stay.

This hostel is so-so. However location is somehow hazardous.

Lovely place to stay. Well worth it. Its a little 'far', meaning like 6 blocks from the core of Victoria but other than that (which is frankly not a big deal) it was perfect.

Very polite staff. Amazed with how clean the bedroom and shower room were. Definitely one of the best hostels ive ever spent a night. Food was good, beer was reasonably priced. What more can you ask for.

Very good that you have the petite bar running and the open mic nights add so much!

Cheap for Victoria, good place to stay. Was not as lively as expected.

This was a great hostel. The location was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful and the bar and kitchen were great. There was live music on at the bar one night we were there which was cool. The bedroom was a little noisy as it faced the street, and it was a little cramped, but really only because we had so much luggage. I would definitely stay here again.

Good security, location- not too far a walk to main shops etc. The rooms are NOISY!! The walls are paper thin, hearing everyone talking at the hostel and You can hear all the traffic on the street, you feel like your window is open. Road works began before 0830am therefore very little sleep

You get your value's worth. Nothing to write home about though. Communal areas are not utilized or set up properly. A far cry from other hostels in those terms. Staff are awesome and helpful. Food at bar pretty good as well.
