The majority of the staff we dealt with were very unhelpful and quite rude. The bald guy in the flat hat especially. He should not be working in a customer-facing role, he doesn't seem to like people. The hostel was great though, I've been there several times, the location, facilities and value are great. It's a shame the atmosphere was dampened by miserable working staff.

Weird set up with door keys. There are only 1 set of keys for each dorm. Anytime you leave you must return your key to the front desk. Annoying to have to keep collecting if the front desk is busy. Also need to leave your passport at the front desk in order to use the key that turns on the electricity in the kitchen. Very odd. Good apart from these two odd things.

The room I was in was quite dark and as a solo traveller I found it difficult to meet others. However, the facilities were very good and the kitchen one of the nicest guest kitchens I have seen. The location is a bit far from some main sites but an underground station is on my down the road and there is some night life near by. Staff were very helpful and everything was clean enough.

I had an excellent stay at the Odyssee Globetrotter Hostel. The place itself is unbelievably cool, goes well together with Berlin and the staff is great. They´re always friendly and ready to help you and good people to hang around with. The facilities were great, the terrace is awesome and it´s really easy to meet new people at the hostel. Great value for money and will definitely come back!

The best hostel I've stayed in for the last 3 weeks. Amazing for meeting other people and seeing what Berlin has to offer beyond the obvious tourist sites.

Great hostel, amazing social atmosphere. Plug sockets and lights for each bed- perfect

A lot of people were coming and going, but the staff seemed to do a good job managing security. They weren't particularly friendly or welcoming, but the hostel was certainly clean, reasonably priced and a good location so I would definitely come back!

Nice hostel. The private rooms are fine and the location excellent. Great many restaurants and bars at five minute walking distance. Good choice of public transport nearby. Staff reasonably friendly and gave good advice. The one bad thing, however, was the hostel wifi. It was only available via a javascript webpage login which my phone couldn't handle, which effectively saddled me with high costs of international roaming.

The hostel is really well located, you can find what you like in the near locals and it´s near the center of the city. Overall is clean, bathrooms were always clean. The staff is really friendly and helpfull, they helped everytime I had a problem (wich were a few during my stay). The athmosphere is kind of partying, so if you look up to meet other travellers, it´s a good place.

One of the best hostel's I've stayed in. Awesome location in Friedrichshain near heaps of cheap food and Berlin's best clubs (Berghain is just round the corner), good cheap bar downstairs to meet other travellers, great bathrooms especially. Recommended!

The hostel is very clean and nice to stay. The only weak point is that staff could not help us much about Berlin nightlife and other entertainment places to go.

I would not recommend solo travelers to stay here, plain and simple. If you're traveling with a group, then this is a satisfactory place to stay. The staff and atmosphere were subpar at best. To each their own, but other hostels work hard to create a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, but this place is a simple and no frills kind of hostel. If you're not looking for atmosphere, stay here because it is affordable, awesome location and great facilities, I wouldn't recommend it for a solo traveler.

The hostel was more than adequate for the price. It was reasonably quiet, comfortable and very clean. Staff were also friendly. Contrary to the reviews here - the lock (for the locker) and the bedsheets were free, they just required a €3 deposit each (which was refunded on return without any problems).

nice quiet stay for a good rest

I stayed in a 22 bed dorm for a few days and it was great. You get a decent amount of privacy, clean bathrooms and friendly staff.

Great location, cheap good value breakfast, spacious rooms, nice showers. Should consider putting an age limit found there to be lots of strange older people who brought down the atmosphere

We stayed in the big 22 bed dorm which was set up well with lockers underneath the beds and a light and power socket. The kitchen was excellent with an oven, hotplate, microwave, fridge and everything you could need and the location was okay; close to the metro and four or so stops from the centre of town. Now for downsides. The bar is the meeting place for some wierd punk group of older men. The staff are really rude unless youre part of this club. Good value for a bed but go out to meet people

pros: rooms are very well thought through with power-charges and a light at every bed. the rooms are very big and theres alot of space so you don't step on eachothers as in other hostels. theres a huge locker under every bed to store your suitcase. the all you can eat breakfast for €3.- is cool. contras: the common room isnt very cozy in my opinion, couldn't meet alot of other travellers. my room only had curtains, so there was too much light to sleep when you come home in the morning/noon/after

Great place, met a lot of people here. Location is good, nice place. Good breakfast, decent showers, beds, bar. I would come here again.

pretty awesome place in general but gosh the paintings on the walls were ugly as hell. My room 317 had a half finished anime chick on one wall and a malformed mushroom kid on the other, both looked like bad examples of deviantart
