Very surprised that this hostel had positive reviews. Bed linens and blankets were stained. No security, anyone could have walked into the room at any time - doors were never locked and there are no lockers. Stayed in a regular dorm, no privacy whatsoever and the room was very stuffy. I ended up leaving after one night, despite paying for four. Only positives are the location and that it's cheap. There are so many great hostels in Japan but there's no reason for to stay at this one.
Hostel is okay for the price. Location is good. Living room also okay but the rooms and other facilities kind of shabby.
Nothing spectacular. Staff were nice, but a bit inconvenient to get around. I think it was 4-5 floors with no elevator.
The bathroom and shower have to be shared with all the people that stay in the same floor. The staff is the must unfriendly I've ever met in a hostel. They control the air cond. and if it's too cold they don't care, you'll freeze during all your stay there, they turn off he light of your room at a certain time even if you are the only one there and need the light, there is a time schedule for showering, so if eg you want to take a shower early in the morning you won't be able,
Lets make it straight, the only good thing about this hostel is its location. Rooms and accomodations are out of age. 4 plugs for 6-beds dorm, no privacy curtain, no bed-light. A/C turned on by the staff only between 6PM and 11AM. There are rules literally on every wall of the hostel. They just kill the hostel's atmosphere. Too bad I have only 500 chars to talk about them... Staff is not welcoming, nor helfpul of friendly. Don't even hope staying in the common room if you arrive before checkin..
I spent 2 nights of my trips in Sora House out of 7 nights (The first and the last night). Very convenient to go to the Monorail (2 mins for walking). Very comfortable common room (though it's closed a bit too early). Clean place to stay. Value for money!
I stayed in a variety of hostels during my two week holiday in Japan – this was the least welcoming. it seems wherever you go in the hostel, there is a sign telling you sternly not to do something. I understand that they need to ensure people treat the place in the right way but they need to also consider the overall experience. In my view they don't make enough effort to ensure the guest feels warmly welcomed.
