The place was clean and quiet, (No good for those who like to party at the hostel in the common areas due to what they call "The silence law) had the chance to meet nice ppl and staff was helpful when asking for info related to airport transfers and sightseeing.

Really do NOT recomend this hostel. Only stay at Okupe Vila Mariana if you really need to stay at this neighbourhood (the subway. The forniture is old, so as the sheets (that are not cleaned for each guest). During 5 days my room wasn't cleaned even once. The maid is extremely moody, the staff is ok but no very responsible (they made a party for their friend that went up to 4 am). If you stay at the bedrooms on the ground floor you can hear everything upstairs because the floor is made of wood.

Okupe is a great place to stay. It is located within a nice safe neighborhood, not far from the metro and sites. I had a great time, the staff went out of their way to help me even on their off time. The facilities were kept clean, I recommend the 8 bed dorm. It is a very chill, down to earth place where you can meet some of the coolest people.

Truely excellent staff, all of them were great and really made an effort to ensure that we (and everyone else) had everything they could want or need. You'll need flip flops for the bathrooms and other people's comments about the dorms are fair - lack of lockers in one, two are joined together, downstairs ones are best. Cheapest reasonable hostel we could find in Sampa with a special offer on Hostelbookers (not sure why they do this!).

Please, the maid must be a cool person. She talks too much about stressful things that don`t even really exist in normal world. Life isn`t that bad! I remember being late for an appointment because she was cleaning the microwave and washing its glass plate just when I wanted to warm up my milk. She did`t take the glass back and when I asked her, she told me to dry it myself with a cloth she gave me and use the microwave. This wasn`t very nice.

People were smoking marihuana in the common area with all windows closed and I had to smell the smoke while I was using the computer, my head hurted a lot.

Overbooking, we almost slept in the street. The lady who cleans is very moody and does not clean very well. They do not wash the blankets for each guest, that's disgusting. They say breakfast is until 10am, but at 9am it ends up and many items are not replenished. Except Mauricio, the staff is not very nice. Ok, beer is cheap and they have Wii!

It's a good hostel and it offers a really good value for money. It has big rooms (8 people each), so it's a good pick for a few nights. So if you're staying longer of wants to relax maybe it's not the best option. Strenghs: very nice people and staff, near from the subway but quiet streets. Weaknesses: a bit hard to rest, small common area, sometimes dirty bathroom.

A good place to stay in Sao Paulo, with everything a hostel should have: a fully-equipped kitchen, internet, TV room with Wii (Mario Kart is fun!), breakfast, etc. It is in a good location, safe and close to metro.
