The staff was very friendly, but none spoke English, and that was a problem. It wasn't clean enough for me. The toilets were squats and you had to stand on top of these squats if you wanted to take a shower. The hostel caters mostly to the needs of the Chinese traveller. The location was great though. Lots of cheap places to eat and shop for clothes.

I loved this place! The staff was so friendly. The girl on call didn't speak English much better than I spoke Chinese but she was very patient with me as we reached out to each other in our broken versions of each others languages. The neighborhood really is pretty awesome as well. I stayed in the 8 person dorm and as mentioned earlier it is a bit moldy and the beds were not really comfortable - but I always just see that as par for the course at a hostel. Would recommend overall.

Great vibe. Awesome staff. Family dinners were a great way to meet the staff and work on my chinese. Currently renovating the up stairs but doesn't effect the guests at all. Had an open mic night when I was there. Can't wait to see this place after the renovarions.

Close to the metro. There was no sign so it was hard to find. Don't do your laundry here they charged me 20 yuan they didn't dry it and got it moldy. Not worth it. I also think that some of the dorm bed has bed bug. My legs were covered in bed bug bites the next morning. The toilet/shower combo didn't really bother me but the bed bugs sure did. I found the 8 bedroom room to be too crowded. Overall, wouldn't stay here again, but the staff are really nice.

The staff at this place have been the most beautiful we've seen throughout our journey through China. They are always helpful and keen to talk. Tsingtsau is defnitely the highlight of this place and always interested in what you are doing. Please have lunch or dinner with them as the food is spectacular. They are currently undergoing some renovation and if you have to believe the lower floors beautiful atmosphere the top floor will be something amazing as well.

Pretty standard Chinese Backpackers really, Location is decent, staff were friendly enough but the place felt pretty reserved and quiet. Definitely not a party hostel. The room was a bit damp and mouldy smelling and the toilet/shower combo is always fun.. If you're looking for luxury don't bother, if you want a quiet place to lay your head at a decent price then this place will suit you fine.

Great hostel close to the metro station. Very easy to get everywhere, some real good restaurants in the neighbourhood and a just a great atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and really nice to talk to. There is a great place to relax and chill out and the hostel offers Y20 meals served at 7pm. Good value! Unfortunately they did not know anything about any newspaper promotion but the beers were only Y10 so no loss :)

The room smelled like mold.

One of the owners is decorating the place, and just now looks super good to chill out for a few days. Location is cozy and it would be a place I wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for this hostel location. Dorms have lockers and are overall clean (note: clean the floor under and behind the beds). Cool place in Guangzhou!

The hostel is not in the city centre, but it is very quick to get there and the area it is in is simply charming. The hostel has got great common space, ideal to meet other travellers. The beds are very basic, but okay. Most importantly it is clean. As mentioned here many times before, the shower/toilet in one combination is really not practical, but if you're used to travelling on a budget, it should be fine.

The hostel had great atmosphere and the staff were always super enthusiastic and eager to help. we loved eating with the family. It was a bit hard to find though, and a sign in English on the front door would be highly useful!

I was suppose to stay one night but I decided to stay longer because I loved the environment, it was really genuine, I met lot of wonderful people who love to travel as I do and the staff was very helpful and kind, I will come back to this hostel next time I come back to Guangzhou, I have been to many hostels but they are not really genuine hostel experiences, I also really like the location of this hostel because it's the older part of Guangzhou which has a lot of character !

Not a bad hostel and good value for Guangzhou. A nice part of the city. The room had a bit of a mold problem which was my only real negative on the place.

Excellent location. The staff are absolutely amazing as well, helped me out whenever I had any kind of issue. However, the beds aren't great and there are no Western toilets. Not only that but the squat toilets are also the shower. If you don't care about the sleeping/ showering side of travelling (which I don't) then I can't recommend this hostel enough!

From the moment I arrived I felt welcome. The hostel is easy to find from donshankou metro, if you take their directions. The bed is typically Asian - thin foam/bamboo matting, but I find this comfortable as it is standard in Asia. Bathroom was basic, so if you expect western standards, don't stay here, but if you don't mind showering where you poop, then it is satisfactory. Young staff are great! They made my stay so much better. Would recommend to seasoned travellers.

The stuff and lobby with second floor are amazing but bathroom is smth terrible. Location is a bit difficult to find but still it's in the city centre.

We had a really nice stay in Guangzhou! The staff in the hostel was outgoing and warm-hearted. We really enjoyed ourselfs. The only negative point is the toilet-bathroom combination (we had some problems to get used to it)

Very very filthy, I got a rash in my neck and arms from the blankets. Toilets and shower were terrible. Very filthy in general. Very poor management: I had made a reservation for a bed in a female dorm and when I arrived they said that all their dorms were mixed. I had booked for two nights, but only stayed one and barely slept because it was uncomfortable and very noisy (inside the hostel, not from the street).
