I wish I'd taken more time to talk to the owners of the hostel, I'm sure they would have lots to tell about Guangzhou! The place felt a lot like a home, which I enjoyed, and it was close to the metro station and a bunch of other shops. The one annoying thing was not having a locker in our rooms that we could store our stuff in; we had to take it downstairs instead. This place is a good stay.

there are no instructions on how to get to that location. the directions say dongshan station, but no exit. it took an hour to find the place the first time. staff are helpful and friendly, but the rooms are BASIC and the toilets are squatters. overall the hostel is good, but make sure you get directions from someone at the hostel.

Disappointing property, plenty of potential with a large lounge area, however very smelly, dirty and damp throughout the entire place. Sofas smelt mouldy, floors were covered in hair and dirt. I was given my pillow straight from another previously used bed. The showers involve standing over a 'squat pot', very nasty. I moved to the Riverside YHA, much cleaner and nicer!

Toilet and shower facilities left a bit to be desired. The staff were very helpful although their English was limited. The area is very nice. Rooms are clean. I would recommend to a friend.

Nice place with great staff who exceeds your expectations.

Very nice people, helpful and polite. I like this place but my room ( 301 ) was located beside the roof terrace and both nights people were partying, listening to music, laughing and talking loud until the wee hours of the night. It was very difficult to sleep. Everything else was great.

After 2 weeks; There are no heaters and when i arrived it was around 10/15C' outside. Later it got to be around 20C' and this hostel is really nice when the weather is good. Rooms are all equipped with AC. The lounge is nice with e.g. bean bags and there's a roof-top excl. for us. These places are nice to chill out, drink and meet people in. I was happy to make friends here. The subway is about 10-walking-min away. There are no lockers but you can leave your important stuff in reception.

No keys for rooms, no lockers... Very thin mattress... I think I can live with Chinese Toilet but shower+ toilet combo! Just Aweful.... Common area is very nice, good internet, and friendly people... Location not dodgy. They should improve security and toilets!

staff was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help with any questions you may have. I would recommend the hostel to others. It is in an \"old town\" section and walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and subway. the town people are nice and do not stare at foreigners. I was very tired when I arrived after midnight on the first night & was a little rude. The staff was still friendly to me. They also prepared a movie, and helped with the television & internet.

Great place to chill out. Beautiful lobby, nice chill out room and a great roof terrace. Good to meet people as well. Quiet area, but not far from anything. Many nice and cheap restaurants close by. No lockers, so you have to leave your valuables at the reception. Bathrooms are quite small shower-toilet-combos. Beds are very hard, even by Chinese standards.

read all the reviews before and was positively surprised by this hostel, rooms are average but alright for sleeping, the stuff is helpful, the big room, where everyone meets is nice and the location around causewaybay area got everything you wish for

My favorite hostel so far. I found it clean enough. It has a nice lounge with sofas, projector and sitting bags as well as a television. The flair is great the entrance had lanterns and the ground was made out of glas with a pond underneath. I also enjoyed the rooftop. If you can live with Chinese toilets (just a square whole), accept that your stuff is not locked away and can speak a little Chinese (actually I didn't try using English only, though) then I would definitely recommend this place.

I came to that hostel at 8 p.m. They told me it is closed! They didnt called me or wrote email to me to inform me about that! They gave me piece of paper in chinese and called me taxi. I was suppose to call someone when I will be on that place but they barely spoke english so I had to call more times and then ask the taxi driver to call them. They gave me 8 beded room instead of 4 bedded. Other people in hostel told me that Old Canton was closed by Police cause they didnt have license!

The TOILETS and BATH Combined in 2feet X 2 feet ... Awful... Ran away to book in a hotel... Staff was good but still could not make myself stay here... Local Subway and other maps not available... First time not felt good to stay in a hostel...
