The building is upscale and the grounds your pleasant. My room was clean and I was satisfied with the size. The location and the absence of services-restaurants, bus service, etc - were a disadvantage. My main criticism was my impression that the owners were capitalizing on this. Supper was R130 which was the highest amount I observed in a backpacker setting in South Africa. I did not like the 5% administrative charge added to a visa account. Crazy Dave may have been Greedy Dave.

Looks like it was once a beautiful hostel, but it has been a bit neglected now. It smelled like cat urine outside. Pool was very dirty.

Very nice building and grounds. Beautiful pool, lush gardens and all kinds of birds. The staff was nice but not particularly helpful about Kruger and things to do. Things improved when we had a brief encounter with the owner who was uber-knowledgeable but that was just a quick exchange of suggestions as we were going out the door. The room itself was small and cramped but the beds were comfortable. There were no screens on the windows and not all of the beds had mosquito nets.
