I stayed a couple of days more than planned because this hostel is cozy, the receptionist was great going out of his way to help in any question I had and because the relation price/quality is great!! It's so cheap and well located. The beds are very comfy and since they have renovated the water boiler while I was there, the number of hot showers you can have now are unlimited. I will surely recommend Oleander hostel.

Great hostel! Really nice and clean with a good kitchen. The guy running it (didn't catch his name unfortunately) was really helpful and showed me all the spots to go and things to see in Budapest. I'd definitely recommend this place to any of my friends passing through Budapest.

Hostel so nice, clean and imppecable. Rooms cleans and safes. It's near to the center's city.It has a well equiped kitchen and bathroom. Without laundry but there's one near, not expensive. I want to thank to Alejandro, the receptionist, for the good humor, kindness and sympathy. He noted in our map all the good places for visit, drink, parties, dinner. Also he told us the good and bads places and some street's dangers for the turists. He helped us a lot. Recommended! Muchas gracias Ale! y Suerte!

Couldn't believe what i'dd seen. due to the great comments and ratings on this site I desided to book this hostel. The bathroom looked like it hasnt been cleaned in more than a year! Dust everywhere, hairs, dirrty toilets they didn't even cleaned our room. bedsheets were old and full of hairs and I had boogers and a lot of other stuff (sperm??) on my blanket!!! There was only one shower for everybody which meant that we had to wait to get a cold shower. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL!

It was a very hard time getting from Prague to Budapest. I had no idea what I was doing and my arrival at Oleander was ill approached. I showed up at 2:30am, and I have been taken well care of ever since. The staff is a small, which promises personality, and the few that really care. It's safe, it's welcoming, and it's caring at this hostel. I booked only a few amount of days that I would spend here, and booked an additional stay almost immediately. From California, Oleander is the spot. :)

I have been to a few hostels so far, but Oleander was the friendliest place I stayed at! The staff is great, good location in the center, clean and stylish! The staff knows everything about the city and night-life! I can highly recommend this place for those who would like to stay with locals and would like to know more about Budapest and Hungary.

Street traffic noise is unavoidable. Off site management so intoxicated partiers come and go despite "quite hours". Electrical switches taped to the wall and plumbing fixtures taped together. Functional as a crash pad to sleep off a buzz but needs major attention to bring up to the good level.

I like this hostel. Is small, cozy with a great location. The staff is very helpful spending a lot of time explaining and pointing on the free Budapest map all the important spots for sightseeing and nightlife. Beds are comfy and I found the bathroom clean and the shower works perfectly. Great value for money. I really recommend staying in Oleander.

This was the dirtiest hostel we have ever been. It was seven of us, and nobody is extreme for cleanliness, but this was just terrible. You can see how this place is systematically neglected. My reviews are so low just because of that. Also, there was nobody on the reception during the night, also there was nobody in the morning when we were leaving. Anyhow, we are not coming back again.

We really appreciated our stay in this hostel, easy access from the center, and from the dynamic side of the city, both by day and by night. Greetings were amazing, staff people are really pleasant during the whole stay, the receptionist was also kind to prepare map and great welcome to us at our arrival. Really practical way with keys and access to your room. Atmosphere really pleasant to have a good stay in Budapest without constraints!

OMG...ok, that some idiot did something to the water heating- shit happens, so we accepted cold water, not really your fault. That there was a very noisy group next to us...not your fault either. BUT if you are running a hostel, you HAVE to provide at least a minimum of cleanliness! NO ONE cleaned the bathroom, I guess for ages! I've stayed in many hostels and I know that it's not like home, but what you are doing is just disgusting. clean the place!

There was no staff in the hostel when we arrived. We waited for a long time and finally called them. The location is excellent.

Do not take card, only cash. Same price, you will be able to live in franchised hostel. But if you are looking for easy and home stay, it will be a not-so-bad choice.
