Open House staff is the most friendly and helpful I've ever met, they made our stay the highest point of our trip. Location is perfect and safe with beaches and bars everywhere. The house is a whole piece of art and breakfast is way better of what we had in any other hostel. Based on a friend recommendation I booked here our two stops in Salvador and now I'm glad I did it

Went during carnaval. Alex and team put in a lot of effort to make the week fun for everyone but it feels a bit forced/contrived. His staff doesn't speak much English/Spanish and aren't super friendly but it's not the end of the world. Definitely not a party hostel - the average age was around 35/40.

Hopefully, for us, seven years of carnivals with unique services and parties worth more than any review, and hopefully for you, we are soooo nice people that we are not going to disclose what the other guests felt about you... Besides, your math about age is wrong, average was 26-32 and that is precisely what we look for every year and what we advice when people ask first. Wish you a great year!

Alex was an excellant host as he was friendly polite and knowledgeable and spoke perfect English which is always important when you are dealing with international guests. There was always great background music and internet was available 24/7. Alex took time out to get us tickets/shirts for blocos and camarotes. the breckfasts were great and we got free drinks every evenin É um grande e maravilhoso artista e ativista social, mas é muito importate dizer, que é educado e amigável com os hóspedes.

We stayed here during carnival, couldn't have stayed at a better place during this time. The hostel organised events every night ranging from samba classes to drinks making competitions and even invited perfomers over for a capoeira show. The host Alex is one of the best hosts for a hostel I've ever had and will go out of his way to help you. The place is kept very clean and has a homely feel. Breakfast is awesome too.Very close to the beach and a safe place to stay.100% recommend!

Warm and welcoming staff who gave good information about the city. Near to the beach (by foot) and bus stations to go to the center. Nice and calm area. Nice atmosphere to relax and meet new friends. Great kitchen! Totally recommended.

The staff were so helpful and nice! The breakfast were the best. And when we had to leave for the airport very early the made us breakfast an hour earlier so we wont leave hungry! I loved them!

Great place. We stayed when it was quiet but it was a great sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of salvador. It's only 5 minutes to the best beach in salvador and in Barra, the safest neighbourhood with the Pelo only a 15 minute taxi journey away. The hostel was really colourful, decorated with original art you can buy and the room was spacious and tidy. Lastly, Alex: he's amazing, always helpful and kind and offers loads of advice. You have to try his green dream drink!

Nice Place Close Enough To The Beach And A Handful Of Places To Eat...Chill Vibe!

Nice Hostel, clean, great people, close to everything, including the beach. Has samba classes.

All the hostel is painted in vivid colours and it looks awsome! There isbeach, kitchen and fridge awailable for guests as well as computers and wifi. The breakfasts are realy tasty and location perfect for all: going to beach, shopping, sightseeing the pelourinho(30min with bus).

Way more than we expected. The atmosphere was awesome and the hosts were very helpful and considerate. Free cocktails and samba/capoeira lessons were huge fun and breakfast was really great. The whole building is very colourful, littered with art and has a very good location, only 3-4 minutes away from the beach. All in all, one of the best hostels we ever stayed in!
