Hostel is arty and colourful in a great location as close to the beach, lighthouse and boardwalk. Was recommended the property by a few different people and also Lonley Planet, we stayed Friday-Monday in early September and it seemed that we were the only people in the whole hostel for the entire weekend. Can see potential for Carnaval however for our stay the staff were basically absent apart from when they served us breakfast.

Great location. Walking distance to beach, shops, bus stop and supermarket is on the same road. Safe area to walk around in at night which is not the case in the historic district. Alex was friendly and gave great information about activities to do and how to get around. I stayed during the week in the off season so there weren't other guests, which made socializing at bit hard, not so much a negative just to be aware Salvador can be quiet during the week. Breakfast was good!!

This lovely warm and welcoming home is the best place to stay. Especially during Carnival! Every inch Of the home is decorated with hand painted and inspiring art. The environment was very clean. It is like a 10 min walk to the beach. Also about a 10 min walk to the shopping mall. Truly a prime location! Alex is such a dedicated friendly and helpful host! He makes the best pancakes. Breakfast is complementary. It varies day to day and is homemade! Dance classes on site is also a great perk!

Located 3 blocks from the best beach in Barra. Close to restaurants and bars. 15 minute bus/taxi to the old city (Pelourinho). The owner is kind and helpful. The breakfast is 2 fruits and eggs with juice and coffee. Smaller, but nice. Creatively painted and has a peaceful vibe. The internet is strong. Our private room which was simple, clean, and comfortable. There is a fan and in July the temperature - comfortable. It is a non-profit benefiting local kids. Dance class for free. Fun!

It is not perfect, but they are a not-for-profit establishment working with local kids. Kinda makes up for the lack of comforts. Alex is such a great person, eager to help with anything you would like, with great knowledge about Salvador and the arts in the area. The welcome drink is cool too :) The breakfasts are amazing and Lucien (breakfast lady) and her pancakes are fantastic. There is also a great per kilo place on the next street. It is close to the beach and has a bus stop very nearby.
