Pros: fantastic location, very close to Union Square. Tenderloin is close by, but was never an issue. Room was very clean and had an en suite bathroom. Price was also fantastic. Cons: ZERO atmosphere. No communal nights, & never saw anyone hanging out. The staff are very disorganized & unapologetic. They messed up our booking and we had to change rooms after one night. And in both rooms we stayed in, there was someone always screaming the whole night. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

The hostel has friendly staff and is centrally located, but in a not very nice area of downtown. Turning left, you get straight into Tenderloin, a really run down area with many homeless and weirdos. Our room was not very clean, I saw a big black insect disappearing under the door. If you don´t mind that, you can say it´s good value for money.

I can recommend this hostel so long if you bring your own towel.

It has a very good location, closer to union square, just walk and will see one of the most nicer places in San Francisco, everything closer, metro, railways, everything. Inside seems they remodeled because my room looked very nice. If someone is looking for a place to sleep, I think this is a good place!

Good hostel located very close to the cable car routes and BART connections. A bit noisy.

We stayed there for New Year's Eve in a Private Dorm with ensuite bathroom and were really pleased with the room. The location of the hostel is great - within walking distance to Lombard Street & Pier 39 (each direction about half an hour). Unfortunately, our door lock was somehow broken, but nothing was taken from the room, so it seems to be quite a safe place to stay! Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful; we could even leave our luggage there after checking out - pick up before 9 p.m.

No working internet booking. Extreeeemly noise rooms, with squiking radiator and all honking trafic outside. Inside druck backpackers making noise.

The only problem is the homeless people trying to get inside and bothering people all the time in front of the place, but this is more a city problem than a problem with the hostel. Also, the breakfast was waffles every single day, and some awful cereals. The price is very affordable and the rooms are good and clean and there is a sink in each bedroom, what is very useful.
