Orient Express Hostel Reviews

It's a small family-run hostel in a flat near centre with four rooms (8,4,3 and 2 beds) so don’t get carried away from what you see on the internet. There is no such thing as ensuite bathroom and during our stay owners lived there as well, but we didn’t mind it, it all just contributed to a family like filling. Staff (two mid-aged ladies) was very nice and we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. It’s a great hostel for non-demanding low budged travellers.

The place was extremely cold with no heating. Only a small plug in heater that really did not heat the room.

Great location, clean, quiet and very willing staff. Although their English is poor , the manager is always available on the phone through the staff and she speaks perfect English and will advice the best of everything :-)

It's a good place for someone who want to be in the center of Sofia, next to everything. At this place, you're in the center of all you can visit. The living-room is confortable and the rooms are clean!

I think the staff looks like so angry at the customers. She is often not able to communicate with them. Other thing is the mosquito problem. You cannot sleep well because of the mosquitos. The windows should be covered with strings - maybe - in order to solve this problem.

They made a mistake with my reservation that took 2hours and a lot of phone calls to hostelworld to solve. The staff is friendly but was very unreasonable in this situation mainly due to their difficulty in expressing in English. In the end we were still found as guilty for all the problems while the staff did not admit their mistake. Overall the hostel was quite clean, breakfast was ok, nice facilities, but it could use AC since the nights are very hot in the summer. Lots of mosquitoes too.

Well placed, and a good hostel overall, but they put 2 extra beds on a 8bed dorm so there was less space!
