Oriental Riverside Residence Reviews

It was a very pleasant stay during our visit to Melacca from 19 to 21/05/2012. We were given a very friendly welcome during our arrival by the owner Mr Asri & his wife Lily. The guesthouse provided us with a comfortable environment & made us feel at home. Our room is facing the Melacca River and has a very nice view and clean. The guesthouse is only a few minutes walk to the Jonker street night market and other major spots to hunt for delicious local foods.

It would be good to have a balcony :-)

I found this Hostel very good with great hosts Mohammed and Lin Lin. The only thing was I thought I was going to have a room looking over the mallacca river as I paid for the Delux double bedroom , but I got a room looking over the road which was very noicey it the early hours.

Great place highly recommend... Staff warm and welcoming, they help and gave all recommend things to do in Melaka along with a map. Hostel a requires a taxi from the main bus terminal into China town, but lovely location along the river. Made wonderful recommendation for food and sights and was a fantastic stay.

The hosts are very kindly. They offer the travelling map and suggest the interested places to visit. The hostel is located in nice area which is close to the river and nearby main spots, such as jonker street market and dutch square. The room is clean and value for expense.

Very good hostel, aris the owner is very friendly, make us like stay in ourself hostel in Yangshuo china. (no kidd inn), thanks for anything they did. his wife also very nice. really appreciate .

Nice host. Help us arrange a nice taxi driver back to Singapore when the bus tickets sold out in good Friday weekend.

Have a lovely river-view. Need to line up for toilet. May not recommend my friend to stay.

The staff there is very warm-hearted, they give me a map and suggest me a very good walking route around melaka. The house is well decorated, feels like home. The house is just beside the melaka river, you can enjoy river view and breeze there. The house is only 3 minutes walk to the Jonker street night market, and easy to find.

very nice!!! the host are so kind and patience to map us where we should go and see place of interest and other good views,especially the places which have good food. In addition,the hostel just on the side of river,eit's quite nice and comfortable having beer in the backyard,the night you spend there can be very impressive.

We were a group of 3 from Hong Kong, Madagascar and mainland China. It was a very pleasant stay at Oriental Riverside Residence, thanks to the warm hospitality of the guesthouse owner Asri and his wife Lily. After the 5-hour ride from Singapore, we were a bit tired and the guesthouse provided us with a comfortable environment and made us feel at home. It was clean and perfectly located, by the river and was only a few minutes walk from major spots. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed!

The hosts are excellent! Very friendly and welcoming and able to provide recomendations on where to eat, what to see and how to get there. The double deluxe room was sparse but clean and very big. Loaction on the river is great

The owners are super friendly and make you feel very welcome like you're at home. My fan room was way too hot for comfort, but ac room was very nice overlooking the river. A downside is I got 12 large bits on me from stating there- either from mosquitoes or another biting bug. The bed sheets had some stains on it, and a wet bathroom is only on 2nd floor, requiring walking up or down a flight of slippery stairs that would really hurt you badly if you fell. Walking along the river is so nice here.

Located just right next to the river. Beautiful ambience. Friendly owners. I travel with my dad & wife, they love this place so much. Would stay again.

It was great staying here, the owner and his wife were very informative about the town and they are willing to show you directions !! The only comment i want to make is the toilets & restrooms are only available on the 2nd floor. If your room is on 1st or 3rd then you'll need some exercises to go to WCs.

Nice staff made our stay very comfortable although we had a room with no window (but aircon and fan). its a very decent place to stay and very good located: everything is in walking distance.

Great hostel and very friendly staff. We stayed for only one night, but if we ever return to Melaka, we'll no doubt pick Oriental Riverside again, and we'll also spread the word about this hostel.
