Vibe very somber & quiet. Not a good place for people who want to go out, meet new people & enjoy the city. Location NOT close to public transit & we had to drag our luggage for a MILE just to get there based on directions provided by them. 4th person assigned to our room moved my things and left the door open when they were not around, No key when we returned. No towels in the bathroom. VERY slow internet. Weight scales everywhere? Overcharged & didn't consider online deposit. We didn't stay.

Owner Comment (Show)
The location is specified on the site, and the directions as well. So if you thought it was not convenient for you, you could have chosen another Hostel. It is not our responsability if the other guest didn't behave properly. As specified in the site, towels are not included in last minutes or special rates: you paid 14,40 per night, instead of 26. We have a 100Mbps connection. We ALWAYS consider the online deposit, but we have to charge the City Tax, as specified on the site and in the confirmation. And we ALWAYS explain it to the guests. There are 2 weight scales in the corridors, are presents from the guests, and they are useful to anyone who wants to control the luggage weight

Excellent in almost every respect. The location was great, the staff was very nice, the breakfast was simple but good, clean, comfortable...however I was dismayed at the general unfriendliness of the other people there! I smiled trying to engage people in conversation, isn't that one of the reasons to travel, to meet others? But people looked away or kept to themselves. It's a comfortable place to stay, but the new friends you make won't be at the hostel.

The whole building was nice and warm. We found it difficult to get to/from with all our luggage (cobble-stone streets in Rome aren't too friendly on the wheels), but the directions were good. Close to the Vatican, nice to walk along the river. The shared bathroom was nice and clean but the showers a bit small. Our twin room had lots of space. Free breakfast was good, and we could make tea/coffee whenever we wanted. Wifi was only in the communal area/corridors but it worked well.

Owner Comment (Show)
On the web page is specified that for last minutes and discounted rates towels are not included. (The rate was 12 euro). The curtains are not transparent, the showers are cleaned every day so the guests should be more careful at least in the common areas.

Nice hostel in nice location, safe and just for girls. There was no bunk beds which was nice and the bed was comfy. Overall good value for money. Its a very big place and maybe a better commom room would make it a perfect place.

Really nice hostel for a relaxed atmosphere. This isn't a place to party, but if you just need a place to sleep on a budget...it's great.

The hostel is in a beautiful part of town, Trestevere which is easy to get to the main sights from. The staff were friendly and helpful and the internet was fast. THere weren't any bunkbeds which was lovely and we had a lockable wardrobe each too. The free breakfast was simple but all we needed. It's quiet and restful and comfortable. I was there for a week and I'd go back again. The only things that could be added are self service laudry room and a power plug by each bed. There weren't so many.

Visiting Rome I was many times staying a good while in this house for women only. Price and quality are in good relation. At least this time – 10 days end of November 2011 finished very tragic for me. I came to help my daughter in Rome. Sadly my intention was not enough and I lost her. However I´ll recommend Orsa Maggiore in Trastevere to all women who appreciate a relaxed and ascetic good residency for an economic price. Sirkka-Liisa Sass, Helsinki, Finland

Good place to stay, worthwhile mostly because of the computer access with a good skyping setup that people seemed to like. The rooms were nice and big though the "key" system (of leaving it at the front desk when going out, and leaving it in the door when in) is a bad idea. Hot breverages are not free other than at breakfast, which seems trivial but so important to travellers. The younger staff member was pleasant while the other was less than warm. We often felt monitored, a stiff environment.

Orsa Maggiore was a fine hostel to stay in for a couple nights. Since my friends and I had booked so late we stayed in another hostel for our first two nights in Rome and in this one our second two nights. The staff was very helpful and it was very convenient that they had computers for guest use. I also enjoyed the single beds rather than bunk beds. During the day I had no problem with leaving my things behind because I knew they were secure in my own cupboard which I kept the keys to.

This was BY FAR the best hostel I've ever stayed in (count now being about six). Orsa was beautiful, serene, and very safe. The rooms were spacious and comfortable; breakfast was filling; they're only about 10-15 minutes walking distance from Vatican City; can I live there? Only issue was that for large rooms (we stayed in a 10-woman room) there is only one key for all ten people. Having missed this vital fact, my friend and I traipsed around Rome all day with the only key in tow...woops! >_

My regular haunt in Rome. It's ideally situated, spacious, clean and quiet, providing a wonderful respite from the bustle of the city. Many thanks to the dedicated women who maintain this excellent service.
