Lovely place, very quiet but on the wrong beach if you want to swim, surfers seemed to like it tho :) Only veggie, amazing food but you can't use the kitchen to cook meat/fish which is understandable obviously. Go here if you want to chill and surf, zicatela (the nightlife area) is a $5 peso collectivo away (less than 5 mins) so easy to get to if you want a few nights out. The staff were really helpful and lovely. Only downside is this is that this place isn't in la punta proper (10min)

Nestled between the 2 best bloody surf beaches in PE, Osa’s a place 2 call home. From the epic surf, staff, & Dave’s unique ability 2 make you feel like you’ve been mates for years, this place is hard 2 walk away from. Went for 3 days, stayed 8. First 4 days I ate nothing but the righteous vegetarian meals the crew make @ the hostel, and no I’m not a veghead by a long shot! I am now in contact with all the staff who know I’ll throw them the keys 2 my house whenever they go walkabout in Australia

Osa Mariposa is an utterly delightful hostel at the la puenta end of puerto escondido. The team are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, the vegetarian mexican food is delicious and the cerveza flows freely. Relax in a hammock or wander down to one of the best surf beaches in the area, you'll end up staying longer than you intended...

I have traveled from Chile headed for B.C. and been to many hostels. I never been to a hostel like Osa Mariposa... well it's a "hotelito", seriously the minute I pulled up in the taxi, the staff helped me with my bags, made me fresh cold mango juice and I knew it was going to be a good stay. I stayed in a dorm for my budget but the single beds are huge. The place was super clean and the GARDEN!!! perfectly centered between the main points "tranquilo"-la punta and "la fiesta"-Zicatela !!!! ॐ

Nice easy going place, clean, with helpful staff. In between La Punta and Zicatela so if you want to party or surf it's a decent walk. Otherwise you'll need a taxi every time (25 pesos). Probably better located hostels out there but not bad for the price.

Stay on the main strip. Nice staff. Breakfast not included. Ask for mosquito netting.

A beautiful little hostel that is probably the best managed I have ever stayed in. Celio runs a very tight ship very successfully and keeps standards very high whilst at the same time still managing to create and friendly and secure atmosphere. The complimentary bikes and substantial breakfast is pure genius on her part. It is located on the highway but somehow the noise becomes a dull blurr and unintrusive, I think probably due to the overall magic of the place

A very nice place to stay in Puerto Escondido. The location is a bit out of town which is nice but it can make walking back after dark difficult.

Osa Mariposa is a fantastic little beach shack get away only moments away from the beach and a five minute cab ride from the centre of town. Dave, the guy who runs the place is a well travelled guy, who has a good sense of humour and really makes the place. There is a bar with hammocks nestled amongst a lush garden that was put together by Dave himself. We spent many (hot) hours watching the day go by, sipping on the fantastic range of Mezcal cocktails from the bar. We had a 4 bed dorm - cosy!
