I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! I went with a group of friends who had all booked through hostel world and the woman at the counter couldn't find our bookings or understand what we were asking of her. She was very dismissive and gave us our rooms after 15 minutes of her being vague about the whole thing. Rooms are disgusting. I got bed bugs from staying there quite badly all over my arms and legs. The only positive is the location, but there are far nicer around St Kilda than this!

I chose the backpacker mainly for the parking, and there's not. Very bad staff, unhelpful and mean!! They laugh of you, first said you can cancel whenever you want. Then, when you ask for a refund, they said 'maybe tommorow' ' come back next week maybe' A lot of mistakes in the booking (not the right dormitory, not the right gender). No linen on the beds, need to ask a lot of times!! And the place was very VERY VERYYYYYYYYY dirty, especially the kitchen. You can't eat there!!!! Simply awful!!!

The staff were terrible! they sold my room which was already paid for and moved my things out. in the process lost a few of my things and were useless in helping to find them. I'm still waiting for them to call me however I highly doubt they will.

this placereally needs to be pulled down and never rebuilt , myheart goes out to the staff who were tremendously brave and cheerful even though over worked and very much noticeably apreciated ... you deserve better jobs than that dump guys ...please leave so it can get bulldozed!!! my bedsheets stunk of urine too.

Awful, like Faulty Towers. I came to Melbourne for a holiday for the cup and my stay here completly ruined it. I came to complain of bedbugs in my bed and the manager told me I should have come down earlier on (at 4pm) and all he could do was give me spray because he had to go home. We decided to leave and it was a struggle to get a refund for the time we didnt stay, and we had to pay for the first night. The place was unclean, the staff were unhelpful and I felt unsafe in the location. Horrible.

Bed bugs. Smelly lobby. Manager who is gone at night. Don't go there. There are better hostels in the area.

All was fine until the people staying decided to start partying a 2am and then proceed to have a massive fight untill at least 8 am which meant no sleep and the blood over the bathroom wasn't great...

Good place to stay. It was quiet and quite clean, although the building is a bit old. Staff was excellent, as she waited for my arrival past midnight for check. Thanks again.

After a bad experience in a hostel downtown, I felt very comfortable in this one. Staff has been nice, available and helpful at all steps (arranging the room, tours, nice places around...). 10 minutes to downtown by tram, I definitely recommend visitors to stay there!

Upon arriving I was escorted to my double room and was greeted by the intoxicating aroma of stale wee, the kind of potent smell that awakens the senses and reminds one that ones own life is not that bad; at least I can still hold my water. Swirling, stained 1970's carpets, wartime blankets, black-in curtains and squint bed were the decor of choice and the abode was heated by old style radiator, the kind that the Romans were raving about. The staff however were excellent, very helpful indeed.

We stayed in the Oslo hotel for four nights. Good price for a nice location. A lot of bedrooms and toilets, kitchen etc, everything you need. A nice staff also.
