The hostel (which is also a hotel) is perfectly located in a beautiful building in the city center. Simple and clean rooms but bathrooms were always a bit dirty and I stayed there for 2 nights. They provide huge lockers for every person in the room, which is great at first sight, but becomes ridiculous once you\'ve realized that your key works with every locker...

Great location in the centre of Lucca, free wifi downstairs, clean. Big empty echoey place, but I was there in May, so it could get busier in high season. No breakfast and not the friendliest staff, but still a good value place in a beautiful little town.

Nothing to fault here with this gargantuan place. The place seems to have abit of history and feels a little less institutional then other YHA places. In terms of location and price you can't really go wrong. Though the layout is very big it can feel a little souless and perhaps lonely. Depends what you're looking for.

The staff at this hostel were among the most helpful and friendliest I have encountered on my travels! The bathrooms were clean and the dorms were comfortable. It was really well-located, within the old part of town. It's always a bit disappointing not to have access to kitchen facilities in a hostel, but the chef here was lovely and very obliging. I'd definitely stay here again.

It was ok. The Hostel is more an hotel than a hostel, the staff are friendly. The negative things are.. you have to pay for have breakfast and the wifi doesnt work in the badrooms, and I am pretty sure that there doesnt have kitchen available...

As others have commented it is a big old echo-y place (so bring earplugs) but I enjoyed it\'s quirky character. Great location, nice staff, free wifi in the lobby (or the common area directly above the lobby). Directly across the street is a great little pizza place and behind and around the corner is an amazing restaurant serving local specialties. The only disconcerting thing was that my little locker key seemed to open all the lockers in our dorm room.

In March it was very quiet in the hostel, so maybe I didn't get to see the best side of it. I had a whole room to myself. I accidentally made my booking for the wrong date and called the hostel and explained what had happened, and they very kindly changed the booking with no extra fee. The staff was helpful!

I loved the place. The funny thing is that I stopped to ask an Irishman directions and I discovered that San Frediano was an Irish saint. Being Irish myself I thought this quite a strange coincidence ;-)

Pleasant stay. Nice location and easy to find. Very architectural building with classical Italian style details. One of the cleanest hostels I've ever stayed.

Nice hostel in a very cool old building. Breakfast wasnt included and the room was very, very cold. Other than that, its a great hostel. Central, parking included and a good price.
