I enjoyed staying at this hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful with tours and travel tips. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't air conditioning. It was so hot, even with two fans and both windows open. I would stay here again, but in the fall.

I was very happy with the atmosphere at the OBI - everyone was very respectful of the other people at the Inn, there was no noise issues. I was able to find a free shower both of the times I wanted one, and the facilities were clean and well-kept. The location is fantastic, right by Byward Market and Parliament Hill. I felt safe, and was able to leave my things in the room unlocked during the day with no problems (the rooms are locked and only stayers have the key). Friendly cat around too.

A great location. Friendly and informative staff. Great mix of people. Close to a liquor store and an organic food store. Great combination!

Internet was slow. More bathrooms would have been nice. Other than that, it was nice place to stay.

Thought it was a great area until pulled up out the front and there was a junky shooting up 30m from the front door. Very expensive for the facilities provided and not the cleanest of hostels... Ended up being ok and safe and it is only minutes from a really nice area though will probably not return anytime soon. The staff were helpful and everything- just not very impressed overall. I could have paid less for a hotel room, maybe im just getting old and can't be bothered dealing with this stuff.

I had a really nice time, I was in Ottawa for work. It was busy but spacious enough, so I was able to find quite corners ( to do some yoga, or meditate.) The Staff was really friendly, the first night my room was an oven, so I was switched to a room with a door and fans, no questions asked! Awesome expirence, great price (lovely organized clean big Kitchen, and HUGE FRIDGE!!!) Thanks alot Backpackers Inn!!! Steffani xo

This hostel was ok - pretty standard. The atmosphere is like staying in a student flat - comfortable but quite shabby. I stayed in a private room. It was on the lower, basement level, and had one small window to the outside. The room had a couch and TV. Nice and warm (important in Canada in April - it's still pretty cold!!) Towels are not included - they cost $2ea to hire. Good location - a few minutes walk from Byward Market but in a relatively quiet area, 3mins walk from supermarket.

This is a good hostel. If you can get one on the west side of the canal, that would be ideal, but the location of the hostel is still very good - along York road you can get into the centre of town in under 10 minutes. rooms of a fair size for the number of beds, and again like many hostels the number of bathrooms is a touch low for the number of beds, but never an issue. You can park there I believe, and they do do breakfasts I think. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the hostel is very good, as well as the facilities (huge living room with loads of sofas, television etc). But the hostel was really dirty! Not only the rooms (floor as well as beds, for example there were still hairs on the beds or a lot of dust on the shelves) but also the kitchen and the bathrooms (especially those: full of hairs and dust everywhere). They have a huge staff (8 people, friendly) but anyone seems to care about the cleaning;)

Dont sit down the sofa near the entrance. Because there are lots of ticks. That's horrible. You will need some medicines
