Lovely hostel just off the beach so you can chill out if you want or take a short stroll to the bars and restaurants. Christina is a fantastic host and you feel as if you are a family member - would recommend staying here and sampling some of the evening meals prepared by Christina which are tasty and great value. Would go back tomorrow.

The staff is very helpful. Breakfast is great and the location is coinvinient since it is close to the center but not right in the middle, so it is more quiet.

Stayed here five nights and loved it! We stayed in a double room, very clean, basic but very good value for money. Christina is absolutely lovely, she made us feel really at home. Her dinners are so tasty and she only charges 14 real!! We would definitely recommend it!! The kitchen is rather small so if you wanted to cook yourself in the kitchen it can be difficult, other than that I could not fault the place!

Room was a bit small and dumpy, but fresh towels everyday was making it up. Good breakfast.

We had a great stay really enjoyed it, although we really wished that the site would have told us that we couldn't use the kitchen as we love to cook and really couldn't cook as we weren't allowed to use the kitchen before 5pm (so we couldn't make our lunches) and after 5pm the kitchen is full by staff preparing the buffet - which was nice but we also never knew when it was on and when it wasn't as we weren't told, so we spent most of our stay hungry and eating basic quick meals at last minute.

No wifi, only a very old hardly-working desktop computer. You are only allowed to use the kitchen between 5 and 10 pm, but Cristina cooks dinner there from 7 to 9 pm, so basically, if you want to cook your own dinner, you have to wait 'til around 9:30. However, the worst part of Overnativa is by far how utterly rude Cristina and one of the night keepers are. Breakfast was good, but you weren't allowed to eat it outside the dining room. Sheets were raggy, bathroom was poor, but cleaned every day.

Unless you speak portuguese don't stay here. The lady that runs the place was soo rude to us, you can only use the kitchen after she has cooked for the rest of the hostel (which was 10pm). We made friends with some boys from Chile and they were treated a lot different to us as they spoke portuguese. I would not recommend this place. No WIFI, one computer with internet that doesn't always work. You are made to feel guilty if you use the kitchen.

We chose this hostel for our stay on Ilha Grande and it was nice. Size of our room was average, big window, own bathroom. Air conditioning didn't work, so it was quite hot (and, especially, damp) inside. The mattresses in our beds were very thin and outworn. Other than that, the hostel was very good, centrally located on Ilha Grande, staff was friendly, breakfast buffet was opulent and meals were offered every evening. Definitely worth the money.

The rooms are a bit of a ramshackle bunch. Its not the best place to stay on the island. But it could be worse. The breakfast is decent and the owner/manager is always willing to help out.

Christina was fabulous and the dinners she cooked were amazing - a definite must if you stay here. Great value for money. Bit of confusion on availability - some people had to move out or change rooms when there were beds available. Make sure you check with Christina to be sure. Quiet location close to the beach not far from facilities or the nightly island party but far away enough to get some sleep. Rooms a little small but the same around the island. Lockers available and good breakfast.

Good value when compared to the prices of other hostels on the island. For those who need wi-fi in their like, look elsewhere, as they only have one old computer that doesn't like to be connected to the Internet. The dinner that the owner cooks for a cheap fee brings the guests together though, which is a good way to meet other travellers.

The rooms were a bit cramped and our bathroom tended to get very wet and wasn't cleaned that often. Staff weren't particularly helpful or friendly. Air con was a plus but ours didn't always work properly. The common room was good and quite social, plus there was a comfy TV area with beanbags to chill out in. It's a decent place to stay but I think there are nicer hostels on the island - I stayed a night at the HI Holandes hostel up the hill and liked it much better.

Nice hostel and friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were great. We stayed one night in a dorm and the rest of our stay in a double room. Both were smelly, maybe the mattresses... Staff always opened the windows after cleaning the room so don't leave important things inside your room.

Nice location, just 2 minutes from the beach. Pooltable, beanbags, so a good place to chill out. You can bring your own beers as well. Don´t expect to use the kitchen, not open 24 hours. On the other hand, the owner cooks delicious meals every night.

We stayed 5 nights in a twin room. It was clean but not very beautiful. The staff was nice, although some people had issues with them (dont expect them to be very helpful). The location was good and we met nice people there. It was a nice place but if i´d go to ilha grande again i would try out another place.

I thought this was a great hostel. It is a great location, just behind the beach and on the flat ground so you dont have to carry your backpacks up the steps like most other hostels. The common area was what made it for me, it was like someones house, bean bags and chairs everywhere, a great hostel if you are travelling solo becaus eyou will meet people there. You are allowed to byob and have a good night round the pool table. The staff were great fun and I highly rate this place!
