The staff didnt aswer emails too fast... it was like two days before going to the place from europe that i got a confirmation... and the staff seemed a little bit lazy to help u with anything. Besides, a lot of times the people were not on the door of the place, so it seemed lke anyone could walk in

The last three days the water at the shower was cold!!! We were told that it was a problem existing in the whole island, and that wasn't true!

The breakfast is good and the staff is receptive, but was really hard get someone in the reception of hostel to do the check-in/check-out. There are security cameras, but you have to drop and pick up the room keys on the board by yourself. Some things are very old and it needs to be renewed, like the stair to the suites on the second floor.

Excellent place! Really close to everything, clean, great breakfast (lots of things) but the most important thing of all: excellent staff! Thanks for a perfect stay Marcio and Natalia!

The room was very hot, the beds were horrible and the shower had no hot water. Besides that, the staff was not very helpful, it was almost impossible to contact them by phone and they don't reply e-mails! The breakfast was only regular for brazilian standards. The location is ok, it's near everything, but the village is small any way. I definitely do not recommend this hostel. There are much better options in the island for the same price.

We had a 3 bed room with private bathroom next to the lobby. The bathroom was really dirty, please look at the shelf there! The room has no real window and therefore hardly any fresh air can come in. It is loud as people sit right outside. So, considering all this, the price is much too high!

"Customer Service" is VERY bad. The hostel manager(s) is rude most of the time. Poor WIFI service. The beds are not very dangerous (it sways) to sleep in specially if your in a bunk bed.

Friendly staff but unfortunately the hostel is not very well maintained (they could do much better). On high session is overpriced for the quality of the rooms. Garden is abandoned not taken care of. A bit disappointed with the place. Much better service in other hostels&pousadas on the island.

We stayed in a very expensive small private room, which was never cleaned as it should, relation quality/price is really bad , but we could not move because it was high season . Staff is completely unprofesional , Mr Marcio at the recepcion is a violent man ,shouting the whole time . I had to go to the police to tell them about the way this man treats travellers ,discriminating Latinamerican people . Terrible, scaring place. The worst place I ever been Scaring place to stay

The staff team was amazing...super friendly and very helpful. We spent Christmas eve & Christmas at this hostel and really appreciated the comfortable family-like atmosphere. The special Christmas dinner was delicious & had many vegetarian options...and the breakfasts were great with so many options. Thanks for a lovely stay. :)

Nice clean hostel. The Kitchen was a bit awkward to use as meals were cooked by staff each evening, so getting a spot in the kitchen was difficult. Staff very nice. Hostel a bit quiet for meeting people unfortunately although there is a good area for socialising with a pool table and drinks available.

Pretty, clean and nice hostel, safety systems not very convencing but at Ilja Grande you don't need to worry about safety issues (if your roommates are trustworthy). You will surely enjoy the island so much that you won't even care where you are staying

16 cmeras and lockers , door closed after 11 ´pm 24 h reception , what else ?

Had a problem with the air con the first night, managed to fix for the second. The staff don´t speak english very well so it´s not possible to ask for advise. But they´re welcoming and cook fantastic meals for 15 real.

just the facts: 1.the Fan and the AC in the room didn't worked 2.No Power outlet to charge your phone in the room (didn't worked as well) 3.Toilet had some problem 4.reduced my stay from 4 nights to 2

The hostel was good but the lady that runs it is mean and grumpy all the time. There is supposed to be a communal kitchen but she wouldn't let me use it cause she cooked dinners you can buy in there and you weren't allowed in. Also not allowed to use the fridge at all either. Not happy with her getting mad at me a three days for wanting to use the "communal" kitchen

Great hostel, lovely staff, the breakfast is HUGE with bread, cheese, ham, cakes, fruit, jam, fresh juice . I recommend the dinner in the evening too. It's not just about the food though, there's also a pool table and large common area great for meeting people. Very good value for money.

The staff was excellent--very kind and helpful. They let us stash our luggage before and after checkout, even letting us take showers before our ferry ride off the island! The only major problem were bugs--there were several dead mosquitoes on everyone's beds. As such, we had to kill them nightly and keep our window closed=hot room.

We had a great time, the hostel is close to everything in this beautiful village!! Try the dinner, when the owner is cooking! If you stick to the rules everyone is very friendly!!

The private room was really nice and had a balcony. Christine the owner was very welcoming and the breakfast was lovely. Would stay again!

Its a great place to stay in all the ways, Good for couple, groups, alone traveller... clean, staff great and the rooms are verryyyy very good.
