Slightly disappointed having read the reviews. A kinda anonymous place with thin walls (I could hear my neighbours and anyone using the toilet very clearly) and poor facilities - only squat loos upstairs, one shower between all the guests and the wi fi didn't work. Location near the train station is good if arriving late but puts it some distance from the lakes which isn't as good.
Only 100m from trainstation, english speaking staff and nice room, only the mt.fuji is sometimes not here... ;)
Amazing location and you can see the mountain from the window! Traditional style rooms and food if you want to pay a little bit extra, overall a good spot to stay.
Unreal staff.... they are so friendly and helpful. My group actually arrived at 11pm (10pm is the curfew) and one of the staff had waited for an entire hour for us! He was about to close the doors, but he was still happy to see us and gave us tea and set up our rooms for us. This is a great hostel, and the rooms feel really traditional. The only downside is that there is one big shower room with two shower heads, and it's not terrific. Otherwise a perfect place to stay at the FOOT of Fuji.
