Thank you to all the Paddy's Palace staff and particularly to Steve, the owner and and the lovely manager Eileen. Derry and this hostel was the perfect place to start my trip around Ireland and to learn about the history of Ireland and the troubles. Even Eileen the irish/american manager teach me some gaelic and irish dance. Thank you so much ! Slán !

Staff in the main hostel were excellent but in auxiliary building, No 8, good service was lacking. But we enjoyed our stay.

We loved our stay! Every person we encountered that worked there or was staying there was amazingly helpful, friendly, and fun. The staff helped me make a call on their own mobile phones when I had to deal with another hostel in another town, and we met great folks staying there that we went on the town with. Great experience, and will definitely stay there if I am ever again in Derry!

Staff where friendly and very helpful, great value for money as its only 5 minutes into the shopping centre. Great value for money, beds are very comfy and clean, however security could be abit better.

If you go to Derry this is the place to stay! We really felt like being at home because of the great atmosphere in the very cozy common room. We met amazing people and had a great time with the easy-going staff as well. Thanks guys :)

An alright place , had to leave before breakfast so can't comment on that. Had a 4person room to ourselves which was nice, there are no lockers in the rooms but we were able to lock the room to keep our bags safe. Showers were clean , but had terrible water pressure and it varied between scalding and freezing. Very friednly and accomidatjng staff , very helpful !

The hostel and the room were ok, but the bed was dirty, we were not sure if the bed linen was actually already used when we arrived.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was not very clean and the facilities were substandard. The staff seemed like inexperienced kids. Location was its only plus. parking was poor.

Six of our party were in the annex which is not nearly as nice as the main hostel. I had not realised there was an annex, and we (everyone in the hostel probably) were woken at 3.15 am by a party of other hostellers coming back and continuing to talk to one another in the shared lobby as if they still in a crowded bar with loud music playing. Impossible to sleep. However the main hostel where we had our breakfast and two others stayed was much nicer.

This was a nice hostel in Derry. It's a good location for seeing the sights and sounds (both day & night) Derry has to offer. The people there (both staff & guests) were very friendly and definitely enhanced my experience in Derry. A nice clean place, run by good friendly people - what more could you ask for - especially comforting in a modern, busy city like this one. While I only stayed there one day/night, I felt like I was among friends.

The first idea that comes into my mind when I think of this hostal is "mess and carelessness". The worst thing for me was the feeling that the staff was not professional at all. For us they were in the hostal just like someone who is not working there, but just having some beers with friends. I don't think that it is the right attitude to work in a hostal, even trying to be close and friendly with the guests. The conditions of the hostal in general were not as good as expected.

The private rooms are in another building that is currently being renovated (April 2013). While the main building is very cool and a super place to hang out, this other building is quite souless and you don't feel part of the buzz in the main part of the hostel. Having said that, the rooms were big, the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was clean.
